holdens_r_better
How many KW does a 2lt non turbo silvia have and how can i do it up to get more KW wihout sacrificing fuel consumption Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/22540-what-sorta-kw-does-a-non-turbo-silvia-have/ Share on other sites
holdens_r_better
also how can i tell what type of engine it has on carsales.com i seen a few on there but cant tell if they have a sr or ca engine if it is a 2lt does that mean its sr Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/22540-what-sorta-kw-does-a-non-turbo-silvia-have/#findComment-483751 Share on other sites
nismoman18
yes 2 litre is SR20 and 1.8 litre is CA18. the power figures im not too sure prolly around the vicinity of 120 odd KW at the flywheel, prolly 80-90 at the wheels. do it up just the exhaust and filter upgrade, u want sum serious power sum internals, or else forced induction! Nismodified
SR20DE is in the order of 105kw @ engine. thats for the NON VVT redtop engine. www.silviansw.com for very useful info on sils and 180s as for mods, exhaust, intake, cam shafts do a bit for the SR-DE engine. Greg
there was a write up in a fairly recent hpi magazine of someone who had done adbsolutely everything to his CA18DE, cams and extractors were the most worthwhile. i think he still only made 87 rwkw though. i think 1991 is the changeover year ie where they changed from CA18 to SR20. i researched silvias a fair bit a while back because i was going to get one but i realised a skyline is better Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/22540-what-sorta-kw-does-a-non-turbo-silvia-have/#findComment-484343 Share on other sites
Nismodified
That article in HPI, the guy had a later model 180sx with an SR20DE with VVT if i recall correctley. They didnt make much power from that engine at all, they almost went backwards when they added the first set of extractors (lost a fair bit of mid range) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/22540-what-sorta-kw-does-a-non-turbo-silvia-have/#findComment-484922 Share on other sites
drifta180
hey i had a excel with a pod and extractors and exhaust it ran a 16.3 1/4 mile and my mate had a stock SR20 silvia and i ate him by half a car lenght all the time.. i think the excel had about 60kw at the wheels. hope that helps a little.. mabee just to compare huh Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/22540-what-sorta-kw-does-a-non-turbo-silvia-have/#findComment-491143 Share on other sites
holdens_r_better
i think the Sr20 would have a fair bit more kw then an excel Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/22540-what-sorta-kw-does-a-non-turbo-silvia-have/#findComment-491360 Share on other sites

Am building a 200+ sr20de atm . The thing is i have 115hp available between 4500-7300rpm ! Greg
Ok I've got that article from HPI in front of me. Cat back exhaust - gain nothing Custom 4-2-1 extractors - lost power "massive midrange hole in the power curve" Custom 4-1 extractors - gained a little "lost a couple of top end kw, restored midrange punch" ARC intake pipe - gained nothing "aim to change inlet volume to change the resonant frequency of the whole system, and cause either an earlier or later peak that increases power" sound interseting i think. HKS 256 step 1 camshafts with timing gears and apexi safc -"remarkable gains" "88kw was the final figure, up from the initial 74 kw" Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/22540-what-sorta-kw-does-a-non-turbo-silvia-have/#findComment-492270 Share on other sites

slip
Increase power without sacrificing fuel consumption? Fuel + air makes power. You need more fuel and air to make more power. (generalisation, correct in principle) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/22540-what-sorta-kw-does-a-non-turbo-silvia-have/#findComment-492525 Share on other sites
