Nissan Sports Car spectacular to be held at Qld Raceway (Willowbank) - July 8

Specialist car racing will have a new face when the first annual Time Attack Nissan Meeting hits Qld Raceway on Tuesday, July 8. Nissan Sports Car owners from around the Southeast will be pitted against each other in a race against the clock to determine who is Queensland fastest Nissan driver.

Sponsored by NISMO, Motul Oil and BMC Air Filters, this promises to be a great event with side attractions including: demo cars, a dyno competition, motorkhana (race around the cones), a D.J. and a host of exciting giveaways.

In preparation for the event, NISMO representative and event coordinator Chika Sakane, said the event will showcase the great diversity that motorsports has in Queensland and provide a new forum to demonstrate the true strength of Nissan sports cars.

"Nissans are some of the most impressive sports cars in the market today but they are often limited to simply being daily drivers," said Ms Sakane. "This event gives Nissan drivers the opportunity to really blow the cobwebs out of their performance vehicles in a fun and safe environment."

Entrance to this great new event is absolutely FREE.

For Nissan owners, racing costs $110 but places are filling fast, so book now. Visit www.timeattack.com.au for details or ring Link International on (07) 3382 5000.

Paid and ready. Can't wait and have the new cam for in car footage arriving soon.

Hey Geoff, bit off topic but what sorta mounting system are you using for your camera... I just purchased a manfrotto 241v ($299) and it still vibrates like a paint shaker...

Even with the satabiliser rod connected to the floor its still way too rough...

Col, I have one of these coming and planning on a few more

Check the video on the front page. The only movement is the car and there is one with the car having a sudden stop and it barely moves.

This is the local supplier [email protected] and only does the motorsport design. With CAMS bringing in rules regarding camera weight (camera must not be greater than 100 grams) these are now ideal for obtaining footage during races.

Looks good and the vids are only small window but that would be enough for most.

This event is booked out morning and afternoon. Make sure you get out there at 1pm for the festivities.

Thanks to everyone who has booked in and volunteered their time to come and help.

See you there.

Paul

Make sure I get a copy of all the video so Kegz can make a video for a pizza night !!

Thanks Geoff, yeah i was looking for a mounting system to mount one of the new Canon flash memory 1920x1080 high def units for the drags & for the motorbike...

I had a read of the instructions for the mount i bought and what do you know I set it up all wrong and it works perfectly in the car now :P

Kegz I have a few in-car vids I could send you from a couple of previous Time-Attacks to use for the pizza night vid if you want.

I'll burn some on a disc and bring along to Tueday?

    • The cam I am actually putting in (a few posts up) is actually smaller than my current one. At least duration/overlap wise. All the chop stuff I hear just sounds like an engine running badly, because it is. I then envision driving it around in 1st gear and being massively sad about it bucking to the beat of said chop. There is an idle video of someone with a similar cam floating around the internet, but mine is a custom cam (so is his) so it'll never be the same, plus the fact exhausts are entirely different. What I want to do is put some bullet mufflers/race mufflers in to replace a couple sections straight pipes that currently replace the two extra cats that I don't need. But this is even further down the line!
    • I can tell you now, when the bracket that the little hydraulic ram attaches to snaps, with a subframe, and V8 from an AMG C63 on it, it sounds like someone letting shotgun off right beside you. It leaves your ears ringing, and a huge thankfulness that you never ever put a body part under something heavy that's only supported by a hydraulic lift...
    • Still not a guarantee fix. I used a high quality butyl-mastiq (the black goo that's not really silicone nor polyurethane, same stuff they use from the factory that just spreads out like melty cheese), and I still get lots of water on both sides of the trunk when raining or washing the car. I also suspect the factory spoiler rubber gasket might not be sealing well, so I'm thinking of adding a thin layer of grey silicone around the bolt holes on both sides and see if that's where it also leaks from. The biggest issue is that these cars don't come with a drain hole on each side like other coupes and hatchbacks.
