Not positive but could be the fuel valve (in red on pic) , fits on the pump outlet hose inside the tank, you should see it when you pull your old on out. What did you buy and from where ? looks like a Skyline pump assembly.

completely different, although basic pump may be the same, which is all you needed, wiring is also diffferent. may be a challenge.

I ended up getting a SARD universal, direct drop-in replacement for the Stagea pump

well positive and negative is all the same regardless with wiring so that wont be hard to overcome shoudln't be to hard to get the pump into the stag bracket. so with any luck i will make it work. cant complain for $300 all up.

hey chook, i to have the sard fuel pump but i had some problems with its dual flow rates..the idol flow rate makes the stag have a flat spot on takking off from a standing start.. did u have this problem? the auto spark is going to earth the pump so it runs at 100 percent all the time

Hi guys, anyone installed a Walbro GSS342? It's 255LPH/500hp pretty similar spec's to bosch 040, and is also an in-tank pump... workshop recommended them over the Bosch; apparently the feedback they have had is that they are quieter than the 040 and very easy to fit. Just wondering if anyone's fitted one themselves to a series 2 stagea? How easy is it?

Sorry for waking up an old thread, but if you're fitting a 040 pump how much do you fuel-proof the wiring to the pump? Are the rubber boots enough. I notice the stock pump has the plugs, but no real protection against the fuel.

?

Did you find out anything in the end Ruby? I just got a 040 replacement for my 12-month-old Walbro (which died ) and could do with some advice on how to get it into the bracket - it's frickin huge compared to the GSS-342 Walbro!

there is a photo on here somewhere of a 040 mounted on a stagea bracket . yeah its big but it fits well. i am not a fan of wallbros really . if something is smaller then it is doing more work and going to wear faster than something twice the size doing the same amount of work . and it would be twice as hard to make to the same standard so it should cost twice as much but it doesnt so yeah .

Hey that's interesting, thanks Lachlan. Didn't find that one! Just what I was after.

However ditching the cradle completely like that means no direct supply of fuel to the pump when the inch or two that's left in the bottom of the tank runs away during a corner... and I thought that pump had been designed to mount vertically? The pickup covers the whole end; so as the fuel level begins to drop a lot of it will become exposed...

Sold my 040 now but having a fuel pump die on you is still a little concerning... had a bit of a hassle starting it again tonight, after only about its 3rd real run since changing the pump. Not sure if it was still bleeding air out or I had bad fuel or what.

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers

Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
