Ok so I'm getting really pissed off now, and before I put a fist sized hole through the LCD, I'll see if anyone here can help out.

Its pretty simple really...I've got a ps3, HDMI cable and a Samsung 19" LCD (LA19R71BX: Link to specs)

The PS3 works fine in full HD downstairs on the 46" Samsung M8 LCD, but people are usually watching that TV so I need to get it working up here as well.

Basically I plug the HDMI cable into the LCD, switch on the PS3 and LCD, and hit the 'source' button to get it into HDMI mode, where all I get is a blue screen and the message 'mode not supported'

Considering the TV is HD, has a HD input, I see no reason why it shouldn't work!

Hopefully someone here knows why and can sort it out for me.

Cheers

Holy shit... it only has a 8ms refresh rate. I didnt even know they made that anymore

i think it may be that you've set the PS3 to read at a cetain output level on your 46 incher, and now that you've moved down to a possibly smaller output level TV, your not getting the signal. You may have to plug it back into the bigger TV and screw with your settings.

a tech head may be able to explain it better, but im pretty sure thats teh problem

I took it back downstairs the last time I tried to connect it up here...the resolution setting is set to auto so in theory it should really adjust itself to the TV its being connected too...seems pretty stupid if you have to set it up on the other TV everytime you want to move it from one to another.

I don't know much about the PS3 since i don't have one, but that TV says it's HD ready. It just doesn't have a full HD res, which shouldn't matter, it should take the 1080i signals and display it anyway. Doesn't the PS3 do 1080p? Maybe the TV doesn't like that, it wants 1080i?

Screen Size 19"

Resolution 1440 x 900

Dynamic Contrast Ratio 600:1

HD Ready Yes

LCD 100Hz N/A

Try this Dezz.

1) Set the TV to HDMI mode

2) Connect the HDMI wire to TV and PS3

3) Hold the power button for 5 seconds until you hear 2 beeps

switch between the different HDMI channels if u have more than 1.. and look for a picture...

you dont have to disconnect anything in the back of the tv... just make sure the HDMI is the only video output attached to your ps3.

================

2) The secret video reset

One of the most annoying aspects of the PS3 are its video settings. Take it up to the bedroom portable or round to a friend's house and there's a good chance that you won't be able to see anything on screen because your 'new' TV is running at a different resolution or using a different cable connection. And - because you can't see anything - you can't change it.

Until now. Shut down your PS3 then restart by pressing and holding the power button. This will reset your PS3 to its most basic 480p graphics mode so you'll be able to see enough to choose RGB SCART, component, HDMI or whatever from here.

gave it a go, but holding down the PS button did nothing, apart from switch it on initially.

I tried it 2 ways, once with the PS3 off, pressed the PS button (which switced it on and continued to hold it waiting for 2 beeps), got nothing.

Then with the PS3 already on, I held it for more than 5 seconds and still got nothing.

:)

none of that reset stuff worked for me, but just now I've managed to make it work on this TV...in the most ridiculous way possible.

I took it downstairs, switched it on, and then went through the steps to get to the display settings auto setup part...I wrote down how many times I had to press each button (X, 4 left, 9 down X, X, X, X) which gets to the auto display setup. Then I brought it back upstairs and did it all again blind.

If thats what it takes to get it working every time then Sony are a pack of absolute retards.

You can try to set the tv to 60Hz, commonly used with game consoles these days, also the tv is only capable of 720p display output so set ps3 to that on your larger screen 1st, as you are already de-scaling the picture resolution from console as tv is 1366x768 maximum display resolution not 1980x1080p as your larger monitor is capable of. If all that fails get on the line to samsung customer support 1300# and they will talk you through setup :)

    • Yeh... literally every time i jump on a forum, see an instagram post or see an engine bay at a car show, i get an idea and add it to my 'to do' list. So what started off as, hey can u just make a couple of intake hard pipes because my dumbass bought the wrong apexi kit, blew out into a 2 week job including braided brake lines & custom bash kit for the front lip haha.  Getting Luke from A4E engineering to make a full custom exhaust with a controllable aes dump valve so i can actually switch between quiet and loud, because right now its just loud all day every day. Then after that go and get the tune redone flex e85 & 98 as i get bugger all milage from e85, makes going for longer drivers difficult
    • Car looks clean as. You ended up getting quite a bit done 😂  So what's the plan for the exhaust?
    • The only Neo rods that were any different to any other RB25 rods were the DET ones, and they were the same as RB26. Here is a Neo DET rod. O5U part number visible. Here is a post in a thread here on SAU with evidence from someone who has done this before. There are photos in the thread of normal RB25 rods.
    • Sure, but why assume that will be the case forever? And why assume you'll be able to do an oil change to swap back to a stock drain bolt before that happens? And does it even matter when I change the oil at fairly short intervals? Life can be funny sometimes and unexpected things can happen. Like breaking a collarbone so you can't do any work on your car for a few months but the oil change is due so you have to take it to somewhere and hope they don't do something stupid like stacking the new drain plug washer on top of the old one.
    • Do u know how to identify the rods are rb25 or neo ones? Can u look into the pics and tell me is they de or de neo ones. Its confusing becoz my motor has de neo head but block is 25de 75t, so really confusing me about rods, crank.
