Hi i was wondering if someone could help me with a boost problem. I recently imported an R34 GTT from japan. Its in good condition with lowish ks (90 000) and runs fairly well when driving normally, however, whenever i try and give it a little more boost than usual it breaks up and starts misfiring, it sounds pretty shit and i loose all my boost. The problem usually kicks in at around 4000 revs. If someone could shed some light on the situation it would be much appreciated, im fairly new to the import scene and this is my first import, its really annoying and i dont really have much of an idea of what it is or how i can fix it.

get it tested for a boost leak would be the first place to start.

If the problem is the coil packs, is it possible for them to deteriorate further, should i aim to replace them as soon as possible and avoid driving. The misfire is also not only limited to boost ive started to notice, sometimes it happens when im driving fairly normally, the car also seems to have a ruff idle. If you guys have any further advice, it would really help.

Going off your first post where it was only happening at 4000rpm on boost I was going to suggest it is either spark plugs gapped too big, faulty coilpacks, rich and retard, a boost leak ect. ect. ect...

But if you reckon its happening everywhere in the range I would say get new spark plugs first gapped down a little ($30 better than wasting $500 on coills if you dont need em) then if that dosnt solve it change the coilpacks to splitfires. No point piss farting around with tape and glue ect. trying to fix the old ones IMO...I havn't seen anyone cheaper than Croydon Racing either for the splitfires...

In the end though my money is on coils - seems to inflict just about every 34. The splitfires fixed all my issues (though you should be getting a check engine light once they break down real bad - then you can check the fault codes and you should get "ignition"). I had no problem driving around for a few weeks with dodgy coils, car just runs like crap on 5 cylinders (saved a bit of fuel even!)...

Coil packs for sure... i had same problems... got splitfires problem has never returned!!!

I changed plugs first only and was good for 1 day no miss but comes back.

The longer i left it the more often the miss-fire occurred.!!

change ur plugs coz they will be black as!! and get splitfires.... the stock coils are weak don't last long and are expensive!
