FYI

We sold a set of HSD HR series coilovers to one of our customers who drives an EVO. This resulted in his PB tumbling by over 1 second around the Queensland Raceway Sprint circuit to do a 57.7 second lap!!

Think about what these coilovers can do for your car! :D

Got anything else you want to sell? :D

at least now we can share this information, and then more people know what to expect from HSD coilovers, rather than only knowing by speaking to someone who has first hand experience.

wow! 2k for a whole second!

so where's the other half of the story? mods, experience, track condition, alignment changes, tyres still the same etc etc

Kinda useless if it was their second time at the track don't you think?

lol I love you guys.

Gavin has been getting out there on the track for around 2 years now, and this is about his 6th track day with the EVO. the coilovers was the only change he made to the car to achieve his new PB.

and LESS than 2K for more than a second is a HUGE improvement for those who actually know what they are talking about.

PS whats dog poo going for these days? ;)

I love how you imply i don't know what i'm talking about after you have clarified that he isn't a track newbie and so actually validating my point....

righto...

So he fitted new springs and shocks (Evo's have coil overs standard) and DIDN'T CHANGE THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT :P

Cheers

That wasn't a negative post, I was just curious as to whether the alignment was altered after such a major change to the suspension. If the alignment had been changed then it would have contributed to the result. If the alignment hadn't been changed, then there is more potential in there to be found.

As for the real negative posts, I think it stems from incomplete information that some readers would like to know. Especially if they are truly interested in finding out if the result is in fact a good one or a bad one. An example perhaps, based on past experiences I could do a track wheel alignment on an Evo 4/5/6 and find a second a lap, that's good value for $100 in labour plus a few $low value parts. Or I could fit a pair of swaybars and pick up clsoe to 2 seconds, that's even better value for $500 and an hour's fitting.

So back to my original post, for $2K the 1 sec improvement is not good value if the alignment has be optimised, but it's not that bad a value if the alignment is still unsorted.

I spoke to Gav on the day he set his PB, when i asked him what he'd changed since last time he just said the HSD's, he didn't offer if he'd changed any alignment settings specifically.

I certainly hope he did cause there's little hope of me catching him now if he hasn't.

Sounds like i need to bite the bullet Gary and fit your track kit for my S13 :) . I think i've gotten all there is to get out of my HKS stuff.

I can find out if Gavin had a wheel alignment or corner balance done to satisfy those after more information. I can also find out what sneakers he was wearing too :miner:

Just curious, which track are you referring to, picking up 2 seconds by fitting a set of swaybars. QR sprint circuit is a comparatively short circuit compared to say Eastern Creek.
