These are what the manual calls "Assist Handles" and are located on the roof lining above the rear quarter windows. They are also known as "F*ck Bars" 'cause thats what the back seat passengers cry when they need to grab them in a hurry.

Anyway, can't work out how to access the screws or bolts as the trim at the base seems well secured.

The plastic covers at each end of the handle pop off.

With a small flat blade screw driver, gently pull the cover off. From memory, there is a small slot where you can slip the screw driver in. Once the covers are off (at each end) you just unfasten the bolts/screws

The screws for the panic handle were damn hard to remove. Why can't Nissan use bolts instead. I tried to remove the front passanger one when i was replacing my defective sunroof motor. Couldn't remove the screws so i left them be. I got the sunroof motor out another way though.
