Hey guys, i just got a set of bigger rims for my gtr, they sit flush with the guards, very flush infact, problem is that when i do a full lock, the car rubs and cant go any further meaning when im turning my wheel, i lose the last ~45degrees of turning, which isnt really all that much... it seems as though the tyres are rubbing against my guards at a point where its hitting the chassis (its a solid part where it hits thats for sure)....

Now what are my options.....is this dangerous, will it chew through my tires etc????

Dont know what to do, all i know is with the stock rims, the tyres can turn full lock, with my bigger wheels, i lose the last ~45degrees when steering and trying to do a full lock...

What are oyur thoughts, change my rims?

What model is the GT-R (R32, R33, R34)?

What is the size of your rims?

What is the offset of your rims?

the tyre will eventually wear through the guard liner (or at worst catch and rip it off, potentially breaking the mounting points)

some people have worked the guard liner with a heat gun and made a bit more clearance, others have just removed it all together. I like it there as it keeps road noise down a bit (when throwing pebbles into the guards) and also protects the inner guards a bit.

best thing is to ask someone with a similar size on a 33 and ask them - andrew (ferni) or jack (jagr33) has some wide 18s on their 33s - maybe PM them?

if it's really preventing you turning the wheel it could well be something more substantial than the guard liner. it's quite possible it's hitting part of the suspension.

get on the ground and check what it's hitting. you can put it on a hoist and check but it may not hit anything with the wheels at full droop, but you should still be able to see what it is.

definitely a fair point, dahtone is right too may be contacting something ahead of the guard liner

but if you are using castor rods to pull the wheel back, then you're reducing castor which isn't so good for handling (my understanding is, for skylines, wind on as much castor as you can)...
