i just called up a mechanic and said hes gonna charge me 750 for the wire up of my emanage (that i'm supplying) and 500 for the tune

1250 on top of the 600 i already paid for the unit. is this insane or fair???

ROFL! no

$500 for the tune is about average. $750 is way over price just to wire it in

the emanage is a full piggy back, not just fuel like a safc. You buy the harness adaptor and you dont need to touch a single wire, no cutting, just plug and play. If he's charging you to install it, he's on drugs, its practically the same as installing a powerfc.

The tune shouldnt be anymore than 500 for a basic setup (ie stock turbo @ 12psi, exhaust, FMIC etc)

i'd say he's tearing you a new asshole...

harness adaptor ftw! no where near that price... you could do it yourself for $200 with a generic adaptor & a lil know how.

Money for tune would only be right for drastic setup changes(much larger turbos, cams etc), otherwise I'd be looking elsewhere mate.

tenagah motor sport, i thought it was a bit much can anyone give me any names or places. i just want the install and a mild tune (stock turbz, FMIC , zorst 12-13 psi & Z32 afm) and where i could find a harness for an rb20

slide performance;

check the sau traders section (in the forsale section)

    • I understand, thanks. Yeah I wouldn't want the car to tip over, I'll try and use the sills, I don't want to risk smashing the chassis rails. I ordered some rubber pucks that have a hopefully big enough slotting. If the front right gives me trouble I can always just make a wood block. I'll measure and inspect the sills closer once I actually take the car up. I hope so, but the rubber blocks I had in hand so far were pretty damn firm, if they are that hard they won't give much way. I'll let you know what happens. Angle grinding rubber isn't one of my favorite tasks. I'll probably start a build thread soon, for my own documentation and "log" as well as sharing what's going on with the car.
    • Kinda something I have been thinking about.  To be honest, we bought it already driving like that.  So there's no telling how long it actually has been driving like this.  Hopefully damage is too bad when we drop the pan.   I am having a hard time finding a site that sells the solenoid for the 5 speed auto, do you have any suggestions?
    • That'll be most likely down the road...  LOL
    • a stock / option or aftermarket?
    • This is what I've done, add DC until it meets my fuel pressure requirements and above 4500 at over 1bar of boost, I send its mum with 100% DC to both pumps. I'll post up a table soon when I'm free.
