R33 Gtr Power?

Recommended Posts

Justin,

I took her for a test drive before with new oil, plugs and the restrictor removed. Goes like a dream - yep, no boosting issues - it climbs up to about 13-14psi making 3rd gear the gear of choice rather than 2nd. I find with the extra 2 pounds or so it applies boost better in 3rd. Before this, that gears seamed a bit flat if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the advice everyone

R33God, that is a good thought...but the GTST and GTR ecu's are made to work with much higher boost values than their stock 7 psi, 9.6psi and 11psi depending on what models you have. With skylines in general, it is the fuel pump and coil packs that let you down before the ECU does - hence I ran Splitfire packs and a bosch 044 in my old GTST to go with the 1 bar.

However, they say that the GTR support system is much better than that of the GTST. This includes everything that is needed to run the actual motor. And yeh, I haven't noticed any difference in driveability at all.

I take it you drive a Series 2? One day when I get old and frail I will need to go back to something that's smooth and awesome as a daily driver - it shall be a S2!!! I don't think there's any other sedan/coupe from that era that is so easy to drive and handle.
