T28 Compressor Housing On T25 Turbo

I have a Garrett T25 turbo, and a mate gave me a T28 Compressor housing, He said i can swap the smaller comp housing on my T25 with this T28 housing, Can this be done?. Any info much appreciated.

I think you'll find that the T25 has a smaller wheel (definitely a smaller inducer) so you won't be able to fit the T28 housing unless you build up some weld to machine out to fit the small wheel (which isn't worth it). If you manage to get it to fit without doing this the housing to wheel clearance will be so big you'll be lucky to produce any boost.

What are you looking for with swapping over the housing? are you looking for more flow because that's why you fit bigger wheels.

Best to remove the existing compressor cover and measure the comp wheel . If it's the same wheel it should bolt up .

The Term T25 and T28 (and GT25 and GT28) are a bit confusing .

A classic example is the term "GT2530" . In todays speak it would be called a GT2830 because thats what the turbines family is known as .

There really is no such thing as a "T25"/"T28'/"GT25'/"GT28" compressor wheel . There are 54 and approx 60mm OD compressors used on those turbines and even 71 and 76mm compressors used on the higher performaqnce GT28 turbine variant - 53.8mm NS111 .

If you can give me the ID tag numbers of your existing turbo I may be able to cross reference which compressor wheel it has to give you an idea whats what .

thanks allot for your help guys, You are correct in that the compressor wheel is smaller, i compared it to a "T28" found in an S14. I plan to run this turbo on a 4age which has been built. My "T25" is from an S13 (i think). The comp housing says M-24 Garrett A/R 80, and the exhaust housing says AR.64 , then 4Z7. There is no plate on it. It has been reconditioned so i was just going to use that, but aparently it will be a little underdone. I got the "T28" Comp housing for nothing so if it could be put to good use without too much expense it would be great. Aparently the T28 or GT28R or RS is more suited to the application. Im very confussed by turbo names and specs so please correct me if im wrong. Any suggestions welcome. cheers.
