Making an Avatar - help me

I am trying to get me a new avatar. I know bugger all about computer graphics. I keep being told my picture is too large. How do I make it smaller?

Any help greatly appreciated

Post it here and then someone can make it smaller for you.

Otherwise you could use an image editing package to alter the pixel sizes
