how do i take it off so i can paint the cover tomorrow

there are four screws/bolts to undo... thats it

one in each coner and one just above dead center of the cover

yeh take the CAS off.... but remember to check the timing when you put it back together...

The black plastic bit that the CAS wires go through just clips off by pulling it up...

well you can't take it off without removing your CAS.

checking your timing is pretty easy, but you need a timing light...

i dont have a timing light

use some liquid paper and draw a line on the CAS and on the actual cover and take the CAS off. When u put it back on just line it up with the line you just marked

mark the CAS as pictured below

Take off the 5 bolts on the cam cover

Take off the 3 bolts for the CAS

Remove CAS

Remove cover

Simple

Yep, I'd probably mark 2 of them just to be safe

Obviously it's not going to be 100% accurate when you reinstall but its going to be pretty close

The only way to be certain is if you recheck it with a timing gun, which I recommend you do at some stage

what should timing be i will get it checked today

well i just tryed turning the car on it made ticking noise then i turned it off

yeah it should be fine, just get the timing checked and don't go thrashing it till you get it checked
