Read the VicRoads regulations - its all on thier website, there is a legal limit, and then there is illegal.

i put up my green Ps today, and couldn't see them AT ALL through the back window... ill probably leave it that way, i reckon with a big green P plate on the back of a skyline ill be more likely to get pulled over. until then ill just quietly slip through the cracks muahaha

Slip through you wont, go through a booze bus or something your likely to cop 3 demerits, happened to me (was just a fine back then).

Then enjoy having no room for error for 3 years otherwise its bye-bye license.

Small thing to do, big price to pay. Just my advice

doh you sound like the good conscience i am lacking... im just way too paranoid about being done for power/weight :D

full licence in december though

Do you guys know where I could buy a set of green P's that comes with like a suction cup? Not those you just stick on and peel off?

I was lookin for them also, ended up gettin a set for $2.50 after mate got a set from a $2 shop. Petrol stations oughta be stocking em soon, if not already.

Well my windows are tinted and the green p's r up! honestly i drove past 5 undercover cop cars and they looked at me but didnt do anything, Pascoe Vale Rd, Broady, and Fawkner..

But oh well........

I was young once too, i never wore P-plates period.

However, with it now carrying 3 Demerits, its a bit different. Gone are the days when i used to get $100 fine for "no p plates" and just pay it and be done with it. I'd been done maybe 3-4 times in 18months... but yeah, 3 demerits, one more offence and license is gone.

Sucks to be a p-plate user these days, because son of rajab knows the rules aren't here to do nothing but look good to the public.

The real problems are elsewhere

amen to that... but what can we do. i haven't been pulled over in about 7 months (including 1 month in a skyline) so i just hope my run of luck continues!

thanks for the advice

Yea same, I been driving my 33 for as long as I got my P's, which is 10 months ago, never been pulled over once. Drove in front, behind, next to cops and even been followed a few times by undercovers, but still never been pulled over.

My bro was speaking to a chick from vic roads the other day n she said that with the new regs that came in a green P plater wasnt allowed to drive a turbo car anymore at all n with the v8's its a new power to rate ratio, just hear say though, i havent checked it out, the cops dont know the rules too well cos when he got pulled over in my car they didnt say anything.

they stuffed up bringing the laws in at all different times because there are some green p platers that can drive turbos and some that cant! so its all a bit of a mess for the next couple of years until it becomes plain and simple to the police as to who is allowed to do what!

hey ric (HEKT1C) remember i once thought "yeah i'll slip through the cracks, everyone else gets away with it" and I didnt... hope you make it til december mate!

only 122 days til i'm off my P's ... but who's counting

Some mate you have making 50c from you!

r.e. magnetic ones, could be worth looking elsewhere, even overseas. Back when I got my licence over 10 years ago, they had a white magnetic plate with a green P on it in the UK. This was purely optional and designed to let other road users know you were a new driver. There may be reversed ones that you can get if not available here or from the UK but elsewhere, they were the same font and size but "technically" are not Aussie issued ones so could be done for them if an officer was adhering to the letter of the law. :)
