Weight Of An R32gtr Factory Wheel

hi guys,

i fitted some 18" wheels on my car & just wondering what the difference of weight would be between my rim & the stock r32gtr rim...

much appreciated if anyone has this info

About 15.5kg with 235 tyres.

i was actually after the weight of the rim on its own without the tyre - im trying to ascertain if my rims are lighter than the stock rims, mine are between 7-8kg (rim only weight)

where are people getting these weights from? I hear all the time of people with super magic 18s weighing 7kgs. but I have at home for instance a forged magnesium super GT wheel. it is paper thin and super light and still weighs about 8kg. they are so thin and light they only have a very short life span before they buckle etc. what type of 18s do you have that are 7kg, and what width are they?

stock R32 GTR wheels are appox 9kg from memory.

refer to the 3rd post in this link, they do feel quite light on their own without tyres when i compared them to my previous 17" enkei rims which were magnesium from memory & ultra light weight

cool, I think he's having a rough stab, cause as far as I know those wheels are cast. not sure which enkeis you had in magnesium I can't think off the top of my head what they make in magnesium. they do make very light forged alloy wheels though. I have some enkei NT-03s which are very light, but still around the 7.XX kg range in 17X9.

anyway, I think the above examples prove I know bugger all! they are all forged though and as a general rule cast alloy wheels are heavier than forged as they need more meat to still have enough strength.

nice to see my weds are about the lightest 17X9 on that list, but I'm not sure how accurate that list is. even with just a quick look I could spot a fair few mistakes.

i dont know of any magnesium enkei's either, enkei AFAIK specialise in cast alloy lightweight wheels, high pressure casting id imagine though. but ive seen a few tests where the top of the range lightweight enkei's have actually hindered performance due to their poor rigidity, just goes to show weight isnt everything, its about keeping weight down whilst maintaining strength and rigidity.

a little offtopic i know but does anyone know the weight of a r33 gtr rim on its own without a tyre? i have some cheap china rims and they are 17x8 with a brand new 235/45/17 tyre and its 22kg and a 17x9 r33 gtr rim and brand new tyre (different tyre brand than the other china rims) and its 22-23kg, seems odd to me? i was always under the impression gtr rims were lightweight? or does the extra 1" width make up the weight difference?

R33 GTR rims are said to be 9.5kg (just the rim of course). 17*9

r32gtr rim 16"x8": 7.3kg!!!

enkei rp01 17"x9" (my previous rim, i was told they were magnesium, they're actually cast LOL): 9.1kg

my new wheels which are the dtm: 7-8kg (i will see what i can find on this rim by contacting the supplier)
