When A Man Is Tired Of Benalia, A Man Is Tired Of Life...

Recommended Posts

The spiritual home of SAU VIC - Benalia - lives strong with all who visit her train station...

This photo was taken on Saturday night:

I think that's 3 years now?

Glorious :miner:

Post up any other photos of our favourite incorrectly spelt town!

J

Not quite a town name just a funny worded sign found in Thailand whilst on holidays last year gotta love the Engrish

a simple translation to english words are 100% correct apart from the missing letters. When you say it in Thai thats how u say it...there is a lesson for ya.

did i miss something?

Yes you missed a Trip to Benalla to go racing at Winton three years ago where one Mr.Jamezilla changed the name of the town on that particular sign to Benalia. It has never been fixed and still remains as funny as ever.

How was the pondage in Benalia James?

Haha - the pondage was tranquil :)

Until of course, the Brisbzilla awoke and terrorised the locals...

And yes, the GPS we had was an American model. It had all the cities pre-entered, but instead of Benalla - had Benalia.

After a shitload of grog, that seemed hilarious - and the rest is history...

back in the days when the Lada was cool and the Supah telstar ran sidepipe......

For those of you playing at home, Benalia was established on the weekend of Dec 19, 2005. Not to be confused with when team Wang was first founded.

I might have had a hand in changing that sign too

A good mate was going up for a sports event up there about 3 months ago...after I told him what we had done to the sign he sms'd me a pic of it....I think its still in my phone :)

Here we go - Benalia was founded on 16th April, 2005.

Strangely, the Benalla Hoon Law was introduced on the 17th April 2005. Bizzare...

Founding fathers included:

Me, Snowy, Dave (who loves a bit of pork), Brisby, Paris, Ant, Big Bird, Bec, Jesus, Big Al, Tommy G and some guy in a beanie.

    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
