DS2500's are where it's at. Great pad IMO

ill price some up and give them a shot, cheers for a nudge in the right direction.. you've track tested them which means they must stand up to the test

DS2500's are where it's at. Great pad IMO

i'd love to see a few comparisons with the a1rm vs the ds2500 and the project mu's

seems theyre all up the top echelon, but the reviews come from people who havent directly compared the pads against each other

food for thought

Personally I see the A1RM's as an entry level pad. Never tested any of the EBC pads but done the whole Bendix, QFM rigmarole.... Moral of the story I found the DS2500's best compromise for street/track duty. As Andrew said, when cold they aren't the best but as soon as you get a bit of heat in them, you're laughing

i prefer Endless pads - because they don't disintegrate into molten nothing. then again, Dave hasn't had a go at them yet

im fairly sure we could whack carbon rotors and pads on the s14 and id still turn 'em into nothing. :)

i reckon something with the master cylinder aint quite right.

Some other info would have been nice in this thread, specifically:

What car do you drive?

What is its power output?

What is its weight?

What calipers & discs are you using?

What brake fluid?

Do you have braided lines?

Street or Track or both?

In the R32 GTR (~335rwkW, 1480kg, stock Sumitomo calipers, DBA 4000 rotors, Motul RBF660 with Braided lines) I have used Bendex Ultimates :) , EBC Greenstuff :) & Ferrodo DS2500 :) .

In my mate's R33 GTR (~330rwkW, 1530kg, stock Brembo calipers & DBA 4000 rotors) he has Project Mu (not sure which type but they are track/street ones) which are very noisy when cold but grip really well and his entire brake setup is vastly superior to mine.

In my Peugeot 205 GTI (52fwkW, 900kg, stock calipers & DBA slotted rotors) I use EBC Greenstuff. Because the Pug is so light the Greenstuff is quite good and much better than in the heavier GTR.

I have tracked both my cars at Mallala. The DS2500 do fade a bit after 3 hard laps and after ~8 laps I need to come in as they are literally smoking. However, they have lasted 3 track days so far as well as various hills runs & daily driving and still have plenty of meat left on them.

    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
    • Can try Maxima. Or random Infiniti models from the same era. Good luck with your hunt, let us know what you find!
