Last time I did a track day on the bike, I was driving back when all the 'drifters' were on their way in. So many cars driving (not towed) past with missing bumpers, intercoolers standing out like dogs balls, loud systems, existing damage ... and they wondered why they got picked on. :P I agree the cops should play fair, but don't go sulking when ya cars are inviting the cops to nab you.

i wasnt saying it was ok i was agreeing with deluxe about people who drive their cars there that are ready for track should exspect what happens.

i went to watch the last big event at lala and was done for half a cm to low, that was it nothing else and other then that my car was 100% road worthy but ive been done for 'suspected to loud' when the car wasnt even running and i also have been sent to regency because after i got my car painted i had no tyer placard. a $5 sticker ended up costing me $135 plus missing 2 days of work. there really needs to be some sort of slack and the quota's need to be canned!

P plates in the window are like a homeing target for cops to a car :)

In sydney they have been targeting imports for a few weeks, In particular behind kingscross down at harry's several people have been done. Thankfully they seem to listen to our ideas? Maybe they frequent these forums and are actually listening to people with half a brain.

Its no different to how it was when I was on my P's back in 95 and living down south.

I had a little TE Cortina 4speed; exhaust, cam and holley and low. That thing was always picked on by the police due to its nice idle and ride height. Awesome little car that; burnout machine and had no issues whooping the back then quick VN 5ltrs. :)

ah cubes these youngs ones think defects are just for imports lol you remember the good ole days glenelg carpark near the jetty lol cops blocking the entrence and people driving over the kerbs to get away . i had my fair share of defects with a 307 chev in a lc torrie and that had been aproved by regency at the time lol .

ah the good ole days when a defect was still a defect

I hade a 250 x-flow cortina back in the day stock as a rock but could still put on more of a show then the v8 boys :)

I dont think cops pick on imports at all, iv got a lot of mates with holdens and fords who get defected a fair bit not because of the driving but the mods they have. If you mod your car then you pay the price

:( You're telling me Chad! Ah well, what can I do? Gotta get it cleared or I can't drive the car, simple as that. If anyone here has some stock 33GTR suspension and wants to help me fit it that would be awesome and save me some dollars. If not I'll just take it to Synergy again and get them to deal with it for me and save me the clusterf**k

Fark... thats BS.... did you not have the paperwork from last time u went thru regency?

I for one would take that defect slip and the one from last month to a magistrate.... see what they say...

Yes but you see last time I passed Regency I removed the bonnet and the seat, now they are back on, I doubt I have a leg to stand on

Well firstly I don't see how they can defect you for a seat, provided its secured to all 4 fixture points and is ADR approved. And even if not, did they take photos? And whats wrong with the bonnet? Defecting you with either of those two is a bit petty.

If they didn't take photos, then chuck the stock stuff on, call up the courts authority and say u want to challenge the defect as it was only passed within the last 4 weeks.

Speaking of defects, I'm in the process of moving my boost controller. Aiieee what a job. So much dodgy wiring under the dash. I disconnected the earth to the boost controller and the alarm went off *sigh*

Gotta love DIY japanese electronics. Cableties, twisted wires and electrical tape. Dude obviously never heard of a soldering iron and heatwrap...

Well it's a Bride racing seat, don't think they have ADR approval and the bonnet is carbon fibre again, no ADR approval. No photos were taken, however he did state on the defect sheet that "racing seat must be removed"

chuck the stock one back on.... they look like racing seats, you could argue that he assumed that both front seats are racing seats cause theyre sculpted ;P

PS Not much u can do about the bonnet except to paint it... Its a different color from the rest of your car?

I agree, not all cops are bad. And yeah, it does suck, got a week off this week after about 6+ months in the planning and I won't have my car, only my crappy work ute :)

I'd ring up regency and ask them about it... say that you've still got the stock stuff on and see what they say...

I'd also call up the magistrates court and speak to the day solicitor about it...

Put the stock stuff back on mind you. Regency may simply wish to confirm you've got the stock seats and bonnet and not charge. I'm really not sure how it works cause I've never been defected but if I did, thats where I'd start. If you get no love, try the legal aid commission and ask them there, or transportsa. I've seen a bunch of commodores with carbon fiber bonnets and they never get defected for the bonnet... thats just anal...

    • ..could be worse... but out here, renting private affords some luxuries ...we've even been told the Sept dateline isn't critical, and I'd rather move stuff in the cool of winter, than slogging it out in the heat. Recall we were talking about the million dollar view this place has?...that's what he got for it... (won't be so nice when the quarry happens at the back in the future...lol..)... ...cool, I'll stick the wiper motor in a wee box...umm.... the pinny is GLX trim ~ I think that's about as close as it gets to Silo spec when it comes to the S2 pinny...ie; electric mirrors etc etc...dunno about the trip computer/wiring...I do electronics repair, I'd be willing to take a look at it for you. As you saw, all the dash is there in that car..and thinking about it, it'd be easier to pull the whole center section out, rather than just the ashtray and rails, but your call...
    • The "sacrifice of low end" is now basically irrelevant in 2025. Turbo/ecu/fabrication/and other tech advancements gives a vast array of options to mitigated any of it. My setup now is a fantastic example of this. 300whp / 20psi @ 3500rpm from a 600hp turbo setup on a notoriety low reading Dyno Dynamics roller dyno, is almost unmatched on all of SAU and other forums. The only other turbo i've seen that can achieve this is a BW EFR + twin scroll / twin gates etc etc etc... ps. tuned by Matty Spry at P.I.T.S as far as getting to the 600 figure, while enlarging your itb's alone probably won't get you there, as Sucram has stated above, it will certainly help. Just do it Predator1 my brother hahaha 🙂
    • I use Taaarks/efi solutions ones. Years, and no issues.
    • At the Botany heavy vehicle inspection centre. At the time there were only 2 locations that did IM240 testing for free, the other location was at Penrith. I did a quick google, seems like the Botany and Penrith inspection centre is closed now though About an hour of my time.  At the time you could. They are closed now   No it was Government run, the site was attached to the RTA from memory. The guys running it at the time were awesome, if you didn't pass the test, they handed you the results and said make changes to your car/tune and have another go later. You drove in registered, failed, and drove out registered.   Obviously though if you were defected, sent there, failed. You remained unregistered.  From my 5 minutes of research (have a look at the date on my test results) looks like things have changed. So, I can't see any way to get this test done for free now Seems like you'll need to call around the engineering places doing the Vehicle Safety Compliance Certification Scheme or call around workshops with a dyno and try and get a RG240 test. No idea how expensive that is though or how easy it is to find a place offering it.  Bit depressing learning about this now. The first car I had engineered in NSW cost me about $250 all up.... So kids these days can't buy houses, looks like getting your car legal and engineered in NSW is another thing on the list of things they can't afford. Great.
