Coilovers

Hey all,

Just bought some coilovers for my r32 a while back, ill leave the brand unnamed, and installed them all fine with a mate who has done them many many times before.

The fronts are great, sit very low, still have room to go lower....about 5 twists from being on lowest setting.

Now when we installed the rears, on the LOWEST setting possible, it sat like this:

now obviously that shit AINT right. So i called the manufacturer, he asked me to measure the shock, so i took it all off n measured it, and they replaced the shocks with 2 replacement ones which were shorter. After assembling the new coilovers, we put them into the rear, and it was much lower, but still sits about 4-5 cm ABOVE the top of the tyre...on the lowest setting...

ive also put my rims on the car since installing the rear coilover, and im only worried about it now because the rear looks like a 4WD, while the front is dumped!

Now remember, this is the LOWEST setting, and with wheels that sit like mine, being that height just looks wack! I want it at least an inch lower (note the wheels camber in and tuck under the gaurds).

Do you think the replacement rear shocks he gave me are still incorrect? Does anyone else have a 32 that sits that high on coilovers on the lowest setting? i would have thought i would have a lot more play with the rear height...because at the moment it sits about the same height as STOCK...on the LOWEST setting.

either the spring is too long or they still havent sent you the correct kit.

well the ones they originally gave me were wrong, hence the trade. When he replaced them with new ones he swore black and blue they are the correct ones, and even after showing him the pics above, he believes they are the right height!

sounds like he's just trying to talk his way out of it. If you arent happy, let him know, and dont accept his answer until you are happy that you have a product that you actually paid for. Going off that picture i would of expected the lowest setting to be simular from front to rear.

On the lowest setting, is there still plenty of shockie travel, or does it look like its sitting on bump stops? maybe its just a spring problem this time around?

yeah ride quality is still fine, pre load has been set correctly etc.

He isn't accepting that they may be the wrong replacements he gave me again and is swaring they are correct. He only replaced the shock part of the coilovers....i reckon the bottom bracket or something may be the wrong one?

They are obviously still wrong.

Your car is sitting at pretty close to stock height on the lowest setting. Just confirm it if you like, around 380 center to guard is stock, you look like you are around 360-370 still.

You can do a few things, 1 get a shorter strut (which is the better solution), 2, get a softer spring so it sags more under the weight of the car (i'd avoid this option as you'll be smashing bump stops) , 3, maintain your spring rate in a 50mm shorter spring and use a helper spring to keep the coils captive which should drop it another 30mm or so (while losing 30mm of shock travel in bump). or a mix of 2 and 3, slightly softer shorter spring with helper to drop it even further.

I'm assuming these aren't base height adjustable btw.

ok manufacturer is going to trade me the shock part for a shorter version, turns out there are lower ones he could have given me!

got the issue all fixed up now manufacturer gave me some even shorter rear shocks for the coilovers! here's the results

they still have about 5 twists lower to go (about 1.5cm) so im happy with them
