Hey all,

I have search the forums and not satisfied with what i found

I have had a intercooler sitting here in my storage for a while now, i have decided to bring it out of retirement :D I have inspected the fins and inside of the tanks...The fins are strong but look so dull :D and the inner side of the tanks have a little bit of White powder forming, im guessing some small corrosion?

So in saying that whats the best way to clean out this cooler?

Should i Fill up the core with decreaser, shake it and rinse with water?

What about the outside core? Spray descreaser on it and rinse off as well?

If this is the way to go..Do i just leave it to dry in the sun after running water through it?

The tanks i can polish up so thats not bothering me...

Any information at all will help,

Im located in Sydney so if anyone knows a place that does this work I'm willing to pay for it to be professionally done

thanks

Tony

you could use a light plastic style brush on the outside with some detergent, might bring the colour back up.

and inside, just some degreaser and then flush with water etc. Would do the trick. Allow to dry for a day or two and serving is ready

hey tony, i took my cooler to a radiator place and they flushed it for 20 bucks.

i use autosol on my cooler brings it up mad.

there are threads about this:

50 / 50 % kero & metho mix

get the kerosene & metholated spirits from a server.

mix 50.50, pour in one end, block both. shake heaps. dispose. repeat, repeat until clean

clean out with distilled water

reinstall,, done

The 50:50 metho kero mix worked perfectly for me... as tangles said. Only problem was drying inside, i left it for 2 days nd it still dripped so i stuck blow dryer over one end and let it rip for about 5 minutes or so... it was cool to see in action, you blow hot air in and cooler air comes out the other side...
