Funny thing is when it is feeling dead boost also comes up quite quickly but doesn't appear to make the car go at all then I press the accelerator just that little bit more and it starts accelerating decently with a ever so slight hessitation. During this in first and second I can see a bit of smoke swirling around the arse end of the car in the revision mirror it looks like a real dark grey colour I can also almost see the black. Fuel?

This morning I didn't want that fuel cloud behind the car as a copper was right up my clacker as soon as I pulled out the drive way.

So i took off real slow not hitting boost in first or second and the car felt really dead..

Cruising on 60km's it requires more than normal acceleration when cold for some reason but this time maybe because I didn't blow the crap out by hitting a little bit of boost and making the cloud it started to miss and caugh.

I had to accelerate to just past 1/4 to where it started to take off and made the cloud a little.

It was then fine but still with a small flat spot or dead spot that can actually make the car make boost when cruising.

:D He didn't fix mine

Someone has no cat...

Joel i have the exact same problem, but im still making pretty good power. ive never seen the smoke but it hesitates and wont accelerate until i stick my foot in it a fair bit more than normal and then it suddenly jolts forward like it has been towing and the rope snapped.....ive heard it might be a cold start ignition retard? will try the injector cleaner to

this only happens for the first 5min or so of driving from cold start

I've got a cat, or were u insinuating that soon the cat will be dead??! :)

I've got a 3" Highflow 7ltr Cat. 3" From the turbo, 3" Resonator, 3" Large rear muffler then a 3" Tip so it looks stockish.

yer Dcieve, you are right it is only the first 5 mins or so, have you also noticed it appears to make boost really easy also like just cruising it will be sitting right near the 0psi mark?

Lately I've been warming up the car for a few minutes, start the car run in side brush the teeth run back out and there is no cloud of smoke for the first few gears and no 5minute flat spot.

I to still make decent power being 220rwhp or 164rwkw on 1bar of boost. Still std turbo.

I did a ecu diagnostic and it came up with a coolant temp circuit error code. I made sure the car was warm, I just thrashed it through the hills so there is no reason for it to be displaying the error code unless there is a problem.

Sometimes when doing a diag if the car isn't fully warm you will receive the coolant temp circuit error code.

Joel,

given your latest revelation, i'd say that your coolant temp sensor is stuffed. I had a similar problem with my old VL where it would run very fuelly and require more acceleration than normal to cruise along.

if this is the case, basically, the engine's ECU always thinks that the engine is cold (due to in-op coolant temp sensor) and always pumps in extra fuel as it does on cold start so i'd recommend u replace it or check the loom connector.

the turbo coming on boost quick is due to extra load b/c the engine is running very fuelly and dragging the engine's power.
