Hi guys,

I thought i would check in with the pros just what people have done regarding security for their skylines. Im not neccessarily interested in alarm system but more other measures.

For example, how many people have put in a cut switch to the fuel pump??

What else do people do to stop would be theives?

Any one got pictures??

Im asking because im soon to purchase a 34 and would like to take some extra steps to keep my prize that little while longer.

Thanks everyone

I don't leave it ANYWHERE. Seriously. I get edgy having it parked out the front of my house for more than 10 minutes.

im exactly the same. Always worrying about my car.

I have a mate with a nice alarm setup that has a few speakers inside the car set at deafining db levels so that any would be thief will well and truely be deaf before he gets the car started.

same here, buy a 2nd car. i got a cheap excel & work ute i take to shops and stuff.

At home its parked, coverd, immobilised, parts unplugged and or taken off and behind

the box trailer which is infront of the excel which is infront of mums camry which is blocked in

by my work ute,and the Line has a big tree 1 side and my house the other side and neighbours

fence behind.

GoodLuck!

Although I have an immobiliser/alarm I also use a steering wheel lock as a visual deterrent and leave nothing visible lying around inside.

yeah i club lock and alarm too and leave nothing to tempt people. hide my ebc and stuff. friends used to ask why i club lock even though i have an alarm, i always say its better to be safe than sorry. heck i even club lock my car if i park it in my driveway at night.

i pull the fuel pump fuse if i park in a dodgy car park with no attendant for the whole day.

so yeah

club lock

alarm

imobiliser

kill switch

cattle prod

Yup i have a 32 coupe and the gauge and shift light got stolen out of it in broad daylight, outside my house! Luckily it was only a rolling body at the time which makes me kinda stupid for having them in there anyway! lol

The build is nearing completion and ive been thinking about security too. Im considering the following.

-Alarm

-Fuel pump switch

-Steering lock

Was wondering if you could swithc the afm? Or having the ignition barrel as a dummy and using a hidden start button :P

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Some helpful comments there. So far i like the idea of the fuel cut switch, however i guess a determined thief could still hotwire any fuse that has been pulled, or ever a switch.

I was thinking of a dash / console mounted red toggle (removable) kill switch which would cut power to the fuel pump and anything else i thought necessary.

Interesting to see how paranoid some people are, something i should look forward to? :P

Im not the sort of person that would leave things in the car, nor likely to modify the interior with gadgets.

I also will have a club lock.

Thanks once again.

whats really sad is if they really wanted to steal your car they would....flat bed truck and all. Its those shit kickers that you try to deter.

a really good imobiliser and installation will generally do the trick. some guy went to the trouble of welding a box over the unit to the chassis..ha. the longer it will take the more risk it will be to the theif so he will move onto the next poor fella. unfortunately i find people just ignore alarms going off in general unless its damn annoying like if it was hooked to your horn then they would give a shit..ha something to think about.

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
