R33 GTR Compression Test Readings

Does anybody have some real facts about what kind of reading each piston should show during a compression test?

150-160 psi in each cylinder is considered normal...

You won't get exactly the same across all cylinders, but if they're all up around that range, your engine is fine...

There was one GTR that I was interested in that I got tested and it came back 140, 152, 147, 80, 158, 152... So you can tell it was leaking in cylinder 4...

Obviously the above car (the one Andrew noted) needs a rebuild.

Thanks Merli, I got mine checked a couple of weeks ago before I bought it and the mechanic said it was fine but I asked him on the day and I swear I heard him say 135 as average. When I asked him again earlier today he said that he remembers the readings as 150...He said 135 is too low and he would've advised me against buying it...maybe I was hearing things...anyway car drives fine but I might have other one done for piece of mind...

Well mine did a 160 x 6 until I popped #... (ended up being 60psi)

TonyGTSt, the mechanic told me that GTS-T's have higher readings, i.e. more compression than GTR's...

You can do it at home if you have the kit. Comes with some timing lights or you can probably buy it on its own.
