Hi, I am thinking about selling my L28E to fund a new project, if all goes accordingly with the insurance payout.

Rebuilt bottom end

flat top pistons (bumps compression up a bit)

recoed head (possibly some work)

Modded AFM, (possibly computer too??)

modded zorst manifold (larger dump where headers meet into 2 1/2")

basically everything to drop engine into another car (240Z etc)

Recoed R30 Stumpy 5 speed

Heavy Duty Clutch

All work carried out by Dat Rally in melbourne clocked up ~80rwKw on their dyno can hear running/test drive engine

Only been run on Optimax while in melb and PULP in tas

Make a reasonable offer (L28E engines go for $1200 from importers, but i am reasonable)

also available 2 1/2" mandrel bent zorst to suit

negotiable if purchased with engine

Oh im located in Tasmania

I would love to make an offer on the lot, but i just spent $2000 grand on a pushie, im now back into mountainbike riding. Now i think i would have had more fun in my car if i spent the money on that, so im really pissed off. plus i live in SA, so i couldnt really get it anyway.

Keep us up to date with the conversion, im thinking of doing the same when i have some cash.

Hehe the old pushy!!! what did you get?

Ive had my days of mountainbikes i spent way too much on a Giant ATX 890 a few years back and ended up selling it for a measly $800 bucks (big loss)

got a guy local thats interested in buying it, doesn't know what to offer and i really don't know what to take

if you had the dosh what would you offer?

  • 2 weeks later...

I got an Avanti Manic, then got disc brakes put on, its sweet.

Im not sure what i would offer. R32 RB20DET Manual halfcuts are between $2000-$2500, so i spose sonmething under $2000?

Really i have no idea. Best bet would be someone with a 240-260z or something, they might have more trouble complying a turbo motor, yours would be better for them, simple swap, no complience issues. Maybe try one of the datsun sites, i think ozdat might have a classifieds section. good luck.

    • All I can say Duncan is good luck and I hope that Neil did not run any E85 in Cheryl. I have recently experienced the full spectrum of fuel tank issues in my R33's that had been caused by E85 and contaminated fuel. When you take the cover off the top of the tank and have a look inside you will get an understanding of how easy it will be. Best case situation is clean fuel with minimal contamination. My GTR was like this and it was a very simple operation to just grab the fuel pump carrier bracket and slide it up and out of the tank. My three GTS_T's had different levels of fuel contamination that was probably caused by E85 in the fuel.  In the worst case all of the metal components in the tank had rusted to the point where there were pieces of rusted metal swirling around in the tank. This required the removal of the exhaust, the tailshaft, the complete rear cradle and the fuel tank. The components in the tank were that rusted that it took days to get the fuel pump carrier and the mounting brackets out of the tank. When the tank was finally cleaned, everything inside the tank had to be replaced. With the tank all back together I could then reinstall it in the car along with everything else that had to come out. Good luck and I hope that you find a clean tank.
    • It is a two door. It is black and also still has the OEM wheels and stereo. Exact model would be KR_R32RGFEL_SS According to GTR-Registry.com is a 2 Door Coupe; RB20DE; 2WD no HICAS; MT.F5; (11L) Projector Headlamps and Fog Lights; (12_) Electronic Active Full Auto Air Con (Climate Control); (13-14SS) V Selection -- Which seems to be accurate description of my variant. Will try to upload a few pictures soon. The OEM wheels look like the below image. Image is taken from the goo-net-exchange website.

    • Welcome Gabriel. At least your car has a glorious RB and not the shitty CA18. As MBS206 mentioned all the good bits can be added later. Two doors or four?
    • And half of them have been converted to turbos.
