I had a horrible week with the Ford Meteor which I have affectionately named the "Flying Gherkin" (you have no idea how bad I'm hanging to get rid of this piece of sh!t and replace with a real car!). Firstly it wouldn't start every morning and had to jump it. So I filled distilled water in the battery. Then it was makign this grinding sound and I realised there was this massive nail on the inner of the back right passenger tyre. Then it started overheating (in winter lol) so I drained the crappy coolant and put some fresh stuff in. I know its due for an oil change but I can't afford to take it to a mechanic and I don't have any ramps to do it myself (and no one I know has any). Now it's makign this constant sound thats kind of like a fluttering type of rattling. When I first got given the sh!tbox my ex unclipped the fan because it was doing something to the radiator (i wasn't really listening when he told me because I was playing ps2 lol) and I think that might be responsible for the noise. I have no idea what he unclipped let aloen what it does? I know it was to stop the fan running when the car was idle or something. Oh bugger I don't know, can anyone help me?

lol

In my old car I could change oil without ramps, just need a decent oil catch tray, did it on the front lawn :)

Sounds like the cars got a lot off problems, just run it into the ground and buy another $100 bunky :worship:

It doesn't have problems =( my flying gherkin is just havign a bad week!!!! lol

but how the hell do you get under it to do the oil change? I don't have a front lawn! And I'll end up hurting myself....btw I've never doen an oil change before. I just googled it so I know what to do haha

Easier then, jack the front up, get oil tray, undo sump plug... dodge the black gold river.

Redo sump plug, fill right amount of oil back in, usually a nice big filler on the engines head- use a funnel or a cut 2L coke bottle.

Everyone's told me not to do that because it's dangerous?

lol, i did it on grass with a paver under the jack... I just made sure I stuffed something under the car near where I was working, like a spare wheel in case the jack fails.

Well thank god I have that spare wheel in my loungeroom.... haha just kidding...i think I'll get one of the boys to do it...I'm so not risking crushing my pretty face lol

Come on guys, where are your manners?

Mel, if you need a hand I'll help you out. I do it for a living anyway! I did mine without a jack, but then I lowered it so I cant do that anymore. But if your thin enough (I'm a stick :P) then its even easier.

Let me know

Awww I'm a pretty lady now am I? Haha And OI! I do get dirty with my car!! Last week I'd just had my nails done and I got a nail in my tyre so I changed it all by myself!!! And to prove it...I stuffed one of my nails up cos they weren't dry yet but it didn't matter cos my car could drive again!!! Aaaaand I ended up with black stuff on my face. I rocked up at my friends "girls nite" and they were like "melskis playing cars again" lol

So yeah umm...if someone could help me that'd be awsome! I'm in Yokine...

    • Hey Nismo, any chance in the world you still have these seats?
    • I'd say closer to OG GTX3582R, just smaller trim - so 59mm inducer/82mm exducer as opposed to 62/82 for the first gen GTX3582R. Yeah EFRs were boss, the EFR8474 is still an absolute beast and it perplexes me that people still go to things like Turbosmart/Garrett etc when the results people are getting with those are pretty unremarkable compared to what you could get with a turbo available well before those options came out.  DriftSquid (I think) "upgraded" from an EFR9174 to a Turbosmart turbo and promised a comparison video - and kinda shuffled awkwardly and did a bit of diversion from the fact that they didn't get any improvement going to the currently massively hyped brand of turbo from a turbo that was a bit of a frankenstein that had been well superceded in it's own range before the Turbosmart unit he put on there even came out. I suspect the EFR would outperform most Xonas for what a lot of less-insane RB owners would go for, in the 400-600kw range but the Xonas are looking hard to beat up to maybe in the mid 700kw range at this stage- basically where EFRs don't really reach, and before the Precision turbos take over.  What the Xonas do well in the "EFR range" is be easier to package etc, and work very well if a divided housing doesn't suit your application.
    • Are you sure the gasket is blown? What are the issues? Thermocure is the only flush I've seen do anything with rust, very impressed with that, Prestone, rust will be by the pool having a cigarette.
    • And since the flush you have a blown head gasket? Have you lifted the head off yet?
    • The answer is to get a hold of the wiring diagram, work out what voltage is supposed to be where, when, and then work out why it is not there, then. I can't speak to the HR34 stuff, because I have never paid any attention to the NAs. There is a possibility that the turbo diagram will help, but it could also be different - depending on whether there is an FPCM on the NAs.
