Anquetil
Just got my reg renewal notice, $722 for 12 months, anyone would think that I drive a friggen commercial vehicle? How can QLD be $200 more than states like VIC? Whats the deal with CTP, i'm from VIC originally? It states another $357 for 12 months CTP. So does this mean $722 + $357 = Too ****en much! Surely it can't be that? I'm confused? I'd call em but its Friday night... jlnewton
That's insane!, I did my renewal last month and it was $683. I cannot believe how much it goes up every year. The CTP would be included in the $722. Why can't we register the same way as NSW, by weight, would be much more fair. Anquetil
Ahh its included, thats a relief but yeah still bloody steep! And considering QLD roads are also apalling some of that should go to road construction and not all traffic improvement. slip
I sell cars and its no fun telling people they are paying 370 or something for 6 months reg and then dealing with them when we arent the ones charging them for it. 4 Doorz
$722? man that's tight....just paid mine 2 days ago....$682, what's the deal there? How big are the weight categories down south? Does it mean you have an incentive to lighten your car (like take the back seat and the mats out) and save $1/kg or something? I ended up paying $305 for 12 months! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/22685-queensland-registration-costs/#findComment-487930 Share on other sites

predator
Its now up to $520 in VIC, and you have to pay to use any of the decent freeways.. the goal is to collect an average of $170 or so from every driver in melbourne from fines and other unofficial taxes (see my sig). I think it evens out when you look at it that way. 2fardown
You can change your CTP insurer to make the cost of rego renewal a little cheaper. Maybe $10 or so at the most.
