not to be just another "boo hoo i got a speeding fine cause i am a moron who drives like i stole it"

but, just now i was in Bunbury, on the way in i was pulled over by a police man with a wavy red glow stick

(who totally looked like something out of Counterstrike) "we are from the Gang Task Force and you have been pulled over for a random drug and alcohol test" he says

no concern to me, been doing neither - as they were taking a swab an officer came to my car holding a walkie talkie and tells me that they are now going to book me for speeding

i was like "oh man, is it 50 along here, i swear its always been a 60 zone?"

a nerdy looking officer steps up to the car (with this vest that had like SO many pockets it was almost stupid) and shows me some hand held gadget displaying 81km/hr

glaring at me on a big red screen

"you were doing over 80... you are the only car on the road" he says

but i was only doing 60, me thinks

as EVERYONE on here knows there is a fair bit of difference between 60 and 80 kilometers per hour

...maybe 63 if my speedo is out, but 81!? absolute crap

nothing i could do - they book me and my passenger reads that they have only stung me with $150 fine and 2 demerits

count my blessings on a shit situation i guess

PS:

okay maybe a bit of a boo hoo, just feels like i have been screwed because a bunch officers in SWAT gear are bored of a saturday night

I got done for speeding a while back on a hand held, I was so surprised when they flagged me down out a group of cars and showed me a screen that said 81km/h when I was 100% sure I was going 65 in a 70 zone because a car coming the other way flashed me, and I knew exactly where they were (they're at the same spot a few times a week).

I had a chat with the guy and essentially he said it's my word against his in court, and he believes I was going 81 (even though I was behind a bus that would have been going less than 70 too). So I had no choice but to pay up and watch them strip me of another point.

    • I have an Elite 2500, honestly most of this has been a lot of smaller tasks chasing little details and a whole lot of life getting in the way of bigger projects. I don't mind too much looking at a spectrograph vs having audio knock ears.
    • Nah nah nah nah. Don't do it. It's not all about the full throttle power delivery. The main "street fun" and drivability gains from smaller rear (in this case) is how you will have boost available from a low rpm when yo just roll onto the throttle. Think jinking in and out of traffic, coming out of roundabouts, etc etc, where you just want to roll onto the throttle a little and have the spooly noise from ~2000rpm and a swell of torque. More of what you've already achieved by going to 2.5. And then, towards the tail end of 2025 you can pull the turbo 4 out and put in a V8 like we originally suggested. :P
    • Cheers for the info mate, I'm old too, 60 years old next May, so a more linear delivery of the 0.86 would be better as baking tyres and snapping heads isn't on the cards for me or the car I assume a more linear power delivery would be better for engine and drivetrain reliability as well, IRT the torque load at lower RPM???, as well as lower EGT's???, if my understanding of that is correct, have I got that right??? I've only got a really basic understanding of turbo sizing and all there characteristics  Cheers for the useful information
    • What kind of power delivery are you after? If it's nice and linear, the 0.86 would be better. If you're after bake tyres and head snaps on boost the 0.64 would be fun. I'm boring and old, so linear power is preferred. Lately I've been watching videos on Z06 Corvettes and super charged Mustangs....
