Do I Have To Bend The Number Plates? Nsw Plates

Hi guys, picked up my V Spec R34 GTR yesterday. The front and rear number plates are bent at the edges as they obviously are wider than those used in Japan and dont fit straight in flush.

I have ordered new plates from the RTA. Will I have to bend those also, or is there a way to fit tem without having to bend them?

Can I use spacers or something?

id go rubber spacers if you dont want to bend them.

isnt there some rule that you cant modify plates as they are still gov property or something like that. im sure i heard a story of someone getting done because they chopped the ends off instead of bending them. i think they turn a blind eye to bending them....maybe.

yeah just use metal cylinder spacers, don't need to bend plates and will sit flush with your reverse lights

I got 10mm spacers on the front. Its gives the slightess of bends but stops it touching the front bar.The rear one i just bent a little and it went in fine..

In NSW I think you can get the 'Slim Line' ones which are not so long and would fit nicely..?

But if not just bend the edges and bolt the plates on.

No such luck,their just skinnier.

I know your not allowed to,but i did cut mine,never had an issue,but the car is hardly driven.

The ones on at the moment are like yours and they are bent.

Maybe my new ones will fit. Will see I guess.

No way Im gonna cut them. They are costing me $500 a year to have them on the car if you catch my drift. Might have to bend the edges a bit.

Mine are bent. Just the to sides so it slots in.

Did you get personal / customised plates?

Yep, personalised ones. Silver on black. $500 a year but worth it for what I have on the plates :-)
