My old 200sx s15 was insured with shannons and that was around 2500 (i was 19-20 at the time) insured for 30k with mods

My current r34 gtr is with justcar and is 1500 (now 22) insured for 65k with mods

Keep in mind i havent had an accident in 3 years and never had any speeding tickets; all these things will affect your premium and excess etc

for mods the best is probably justcar as they cater to the modifier

I thought Shannons was for 25+ year olds only?

I pay around $1500 with Just Car and im only 18 turning 19 soon

I own a R33 GTS-T

bascially got the premium cheap cause i did some sort of deal where i pay a stupid Excess amount :P

Lolz, im with you with the parking tickets. Yeah was comprehensive.

for 3rd party, dont bother with fire n theft cos you'd be paying closer to 1000 then and only covered for like 5000.

If its an everyday driver then spend the extra to get comprehensive, probably be about 1500 then and your fully covered.

5 years of driving without a crash or speeding will almost guarantee you insurance with most companies and shouldnt cost you the earth.

I was bout 20 when with shannons, dont know if they changed the policies about age? I listed my car as a recreational vehicle/very low kms per year so the premium went down.

The excesses are ridiculous but motivates you to drive carefully.

On a personal note, i hardly drive my GTR; it stays in the garage and when i do take it out its generally at night or a nice sunny day with little traffic.

Dont tailgate anyone, allow for adequate braking distance and dont be a d*ck in the rain and accidents will be almost impossible.

I agree with Johnny, pay the extra and cover your arse!! My 34 is insured with Just Car insurance for 55k with mods. im 27 and it costs $754 per annum. by far the cheapest of all insurers. The original internet quote was something like $1250, i then clicked on, "make my premium cheaper" and adjusted my excess up to $1200 or something, which reduced the premium to that $754 mark. To me it seemed like a good idea. Hope this helps. i had a 32 gtr when i was 24 and the premium then was about 1100, without changing the excess..

Shannons WILL do under 25's if you have a clean driving record... Ie no license suspensions... But Im assuming if you have just bought your first import and have held your license for only 6 months then you may still get knocked back!

Not sure if you have one or two minor speeding/traffic offences though.. guessing it would depend over what time period.

I used to use Young and Cool back when I had my S13 and was only 19... we are talking 10-11 years ago now... back when there wasn't many around... think I was paying $1200 with them back then, although I had held full comp insurance since I was 16 (own car for L's, parents didnt trust me with theirs  )

Not so sure what they are like now though.... Shannons look after all of our imports these days, and home contents.... group policy discount ftw!!

+1 for Just Cars.. I'm 25 and pay $1000 for full comp on r34 valued at $25k with mods..

I am rating 1 but the price was still a HEAP better than other companies.. Suppose it all depends on location and parking security in the end..

They stuffed my postcode up by 1 number when i opened the policy so i called them up to purely change the postal address error and they informed me over the phone that my premium would drop $300!! Ridiculous isn't it!

yeah i have noticed that! i think i am in luck as i live in a nice suburb in sydneys eastern suburbs so im sure that will be to my advantage from the companies point of view.
