SAFC fixed my problem, dyno!!

Well at last my missing, surging, backfiring has been fixed.

Well, i knew it was fuel after checking and changing plugs and coils.

So onto the rollers, first run 118rwkw, fall into its big dip at 5500rpm to about 60rwkw, then up again. This was on 10 psi, on stock boost of 7psi, it used to run better. Too much fuel, showing under 10.0 to 1. So leaned it off and immediately sprang to around 140rwkw, ahh thats better i thought.

Anyway, bit more fine tuning, and some extra boost , around 12psi, we got 178rwkw. Anymore runs was showing the factory intercooler ineffeiciency as power was slowly dropping to around 172rwkw.

What an excelent tool the SAFC is, to give me 60rwkw.

wow r u sure? u gettting 60rwkw more from SAFC? would it be better if you buy intercooler

Well it did in that example, previously, it only ran ok with stock boost, as soon as you put boost in, it would fall into a hole. With stock boost, maybe it would have pushed around 130rwkw. But now, its flying.

Yes a bigger cooler would give me more.

how can u increase boost? do I have to tune SAFC? you do it manually or not?

Boost controller!!!

SAFC is best to tune on the dyno to get the A/F ratios correct in getting the best power.

Rob, thats great to hear.

I have the exact same prob that you used to have. im am going to get it looked at today, and will get a SAFC II and hopefully fix the problem. i know im running rick as my rear end of the car is black from the exhaust.

once i get the cooler then i will be flying.

Not many mods, 3 inch dump & cat, 3.5 inch cat-back, bleed valve, & now SAFC. All the other mods made nothing until the SAFC was tuned.

Mainly i got the increase because my car couldnt handle any extra boost, but anyway im happy. It was overloaded with fuel.

Difficult question, in my case it was the SAFC. I put on the 3 inch dump and cat and it made a slight difference, but the SAFC got rid of my problems and now im able to run extra boost.

So comparing 7 psi with exhaust and 12psi SAFC and exhaust is no comparison.

i'm not sure if joel is asking me or u Robo's, but in any case my car is a '95 model r33.

The 95's are supposed to have the better ECU that makes more power.. I.e Buggalugs has a fmic, exhaust 11psi of boost or maybe more i'm not sure and made 200rwkw. he also ran a 13.4 1/4 with a 107mph i think it was.
