dude that sucks man, apart from an immob have you got a nice loud alarm?

a 120db screamer under the dash hidden works wonders! it will make their ears bleed before they can start pulling wires out!

Pm me if you want more info..

Man that sucks. Good to hear that they didnt get it though and that no one was hurt or anything, could have ended a lot worse then it did, especially if the kids were the ones that were trying to flog it. Hope the repair bill doesn't give you too much grief.

also watch out for 120db alarms,,,, if its too sensitive you'll be paying allot of noise polution fines lol.... especially when a fellow rb26 or rb25 is screaming past in a car park lol

just some food fr thought

I want one of these 120dB alarms!!!!!!!!! Where from? :P I want 3 point immobiliser and pager alarm, seemingly there aren't many on the market.

Have heard about gangs in glebe. Happening for years; so badly that, even if you called the cops, they know how long they take to respond, and will be long gone. Shitty situation, is why i never park in the city.

Well after some phoning around and forum browsing, it looks like this will be fixed by Saturday afternoon. Grand total is a respectable $280 all up. That's including the cost of the parts and postage to me, rekeying of the ignition barrel to match my current key and installation of the barrel including the rewiring required for the immobiliser. Not too bad, I don't think. I can't wait for it to be done - I miss driving it so much! He's been sitting in the garage since it happened. I just wish I'd been able to spend that money on something else that it actually needed done. :)

Yeah very happy considering it costs $300 for the ignition barrel and $140 for the surround (excluding GST) from Nissan themselves.

I'm getting the parts from a fellow SAU member who has a thread in the For Sale section. $120 for the barrel and $30 for the surround plus $20 in postage. I phoned a whole lot of wreckers and got a lot of 'haven't got 'em' as well as a range of different prices ($150-175 on the barrel and $60 odd for the surround) for the other bits.

Then the re-keying and installation is being done at Pacific Auto Electrics in Thornleigh. It's actually organised through the locksmith (Ultimate Locksmiths, the guys name is Daniel) as he gets all his auto electrical stuff done by Pacific. So I take it there, he charges me $110 and the whole lot gets done. He was also prepared to just do the barrel re-keying and let me install it for $66.

Lucky you man, My window alone cost $550.. So you've found some good deals. Hope its back up and running soon.

used to live in darlington, same deal up the road from reddy and insurance was higher then at my place next to bankstown.

No worries, guys. I am happy with the price, all things considered. Just would've been nice to not have to shell out at all. I am lucky that I didn't end up with a smashed window to replace as well.

I had no idea that Glebe had such a bad rep down the Broadway end. I now know that there's a big difference between the two sides of Glebe. I never would've parked there had I known.

The 1important thing i remember about Glebe is when that lady got car jacked going in or coming out of the shops.

+ i worked onsite cnr of parra & derwent st. so i seen the sort of people that get around there.

also watch out for 120db alarms,,,, if its too sensitive you'll be paying allot of noise polution fines lol.... especially when a fellow rb26 or rb25 is screaming past in a car park lol

If you read carefully, I have installed these under dashboards..

So the outside alarm is for the attention, the inside alarm is unbearably loud.... Destined to stop a thief in their tracks

:) Money didn't clear into seller's account in time to have the parts delivered today. So provided they're sent express post today, I should be able to get it back on the road on Wednesday. This sucks!

EDIT: Good thing is that I'll have that 'damn this car is amazing' feeling when drive it again after having it sit there for over a week.

Had another look at the car today, and I think my steering column has been busted in the process of trying to steal it. :D Very upsetting. I posted a thread in the general forum that I'd appreciate some feedback in.

Cheers.

Little update. Car is ready to be picked up in the morning. Cannot wait to drive it again. The locksmith managed to work the steering column back into shape so it still locks in both directions after you remove the key from the ignition. It's all rekeyed and sorted out so I'm happy. I've got the last of the bits I need arriving in the mail tomorrow so it should be a complete car by tomorrow night.

The only problem left is the light behind the clock that's stopped working. I'm hoping it might just be a fuse - but I don't like my chances. It's minor, but it's bothering me. Any one got any hints on that?
