Hi, most of the Rays wheels seem to be 19x9.5 or 19x10.5

The 10.5 inch wide ones are NOT street legal in NSW (more than 1 inch wicder than stock wheel)

So, do the 9.5 inch ones sit wide enough, ie: flush with the guard or do they sit too far in? Can you get an offset to sit wide enough in 9.5 inch?

Thanks

You've got a wide choice of offsets with Ray wheels. Check out their site and see what's available. Once you have a list of the offsets for that width in front of you, learn how to use the offset calculator (if you haven't already) and see which offset will make the wheels most flush with your guards.

Sorry I can't help any more, I'm not familiar with R34 GTR guards.

Edit: The standard wheel sizes are 18x9 with an offset of +30. Going wider with the same offset will give you a small guard clearance and inside clearance. Lower offsets will result in wider stance (if they both were the same width).

Just play around with the calculator and measure how much guard clearance you've got. Also don't forget to think about tyre sizes.

9.5" +12 (LMGT4 or TE37 are 2 examples in this size) will sit well in your guards.

10.5" +15 or +18 are a bit better.

Use a wheel offset calculator to see the difference (google).

Your stock R34 GTR wheel size and offset is 18x9" +30, but they sit way to far inside the guards IMO. You need to come out about 25mm to fill the guards on the stock wheels.

I wouldn't worry about legality and rim width. Technically 19x9.5 +12 aren't legal either because they increase the track (outer measurement from the edge of the two rear tyres). You are definitely not likely to get busted for either because its too difficult for cops to remember and also its not 'top of mind' when defecting someone.

The only way to be legal is to have sunken battle ship offset which looks really crap (like stock) and 1inch wider and bigger rims. In which case you will look like you bought your rims from tempe!

Volk Racing have a new 19X10 inch 'Gold Tuning Fork' style out there. Series R30 I think. Good size dish and gets just to the guards of a R34 GTR with 265 tyres.

Should be on HJC Sports website.

should have gone 10.5 +12 much much better looking, i have them in te37 on my gtr

Cant be bothered to get defected for having them to wide. The cops are stringent where I live.

9.5 +12 with 265's will still look the goods

    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
    • Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!
    • Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.
    • Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
