Hi all, i have a 33 gtst with tein ss kit, suspension feels awesome and was tuned by fulcrum. But when travelling on highways my steering shakes. Happens over 100 kmph.

A friend suggests a simple wheel alignment will fix it, im concerned its more.

Anyone's thoughts?

Ive got adjustable castor bushes not sure about the details though. Could they be adjusted to be too sensitive?

I would lean towards no.. Since thats the case I would get a wheel alignment and balance done like the others suggested or even get a suspension place to have a look first to see if theres anything they can pick up on... just go to one you can trust!

Not necessarily, your adjustables should be fine bushes. The stock bushes are made from grease/oil filled rubber mounts. once the rubber cracks and oil/grease leaks it becomes easy to move around (especially with 1300kg behind it)

Your bushes would most likely be made of Polyurethane (hard plastic) so they shouldn't move around.

But I think it would be best taking it to get looked.

If you had fulcrum put these little puppies in then they would have done an alignment at the same time. Sounds more like you have thrown a weight of a wheel. Getting a balance would be my first port of call. And maybe just having a visual inspection yourself of the castor bushes.

Cheers

also look at your rims, are any of them buckled? also the tyres on the car have they worn unevenly and are possibly egged in anyway? just a though.

Very true. Even check that all tyres are up to pressure.

I direct you to my experiences with a shaky steerin wheel. You're problem is most likely going to be SOMETHING covered in this thread. Hopefully you have a knowledgeable suspension/Skyline guy, who can find it quicker than the twits I first used.

Shaking Steering wheel - how to get rid of it (the shaking, not the wheel :) )

same problem been happenin for couple months, after 80kms/hr. Standard suspension. Rims/tyres about 5months old (19's). annoying feeling. cos its beautiful to drive when not shaking. Im in Perth anyone know where i can take it to to have a look? Cheers!
