Finding Harder To Get Tyres In Small Size...for Gfs Charade!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just need a little help.

I bought my gf some pretty nice looking rims for her 1989 charade ( I'm going to pimp it up for her 21st present )

I got some Gmax wheels in 16 inch which look awsum on the car. unfortunately they need new tyres and the seller didn't know where he got them.

they currently have 205/45/16s on them, but they are a much bigger rolling diameter then her current wheels which will chuck her speedo way out, also, I want some slightly skinner tyres, ie . 205/40/16 because they are rubbing at the back.

The car will need the back guards rolled and new suspension, I just need to find some tyres.

Bob jane are not that helpful and she doesn't need performance, just some cheap rubber to get her around! Please tell me some good places, or if you have these sorts of tyres!

Thanks,

Adam :)

Yokohama make a 215/40x16 in the S.drive model. This is a performance tyre, though. They don't seem to make a similar size in the economy model tyres.

Anyway, have a chat to Andrew at Traction Tyres in Rowville (www.tractiontyres.com.au).

thanks for some of the help guys, but unfortunetly, the tyre can't be any bigger then what it already is... 205/45/16... I was hoping for a thinner tyre.. ie... 205 or 195 /40/16

Jezza I await your call. mine is 0419 110 110 btw :D

Thanks,

Adam

You can get a super clean one for 20-25k USD tops. Put an LSD in it, tune it, have fun with it. If it's the general idea of AWD + turbo and a manual transmission the 996 Turbo is absolutely much more expensive, it's less practical but it's also basically a complete track-ready car from the factory. At least the Mezger doesn't have heaps of oil control issues. And in the US the 996 Turbo and R33 GTR are roughly the same price these days. 996 maybe a bit more now that the hype has abated for old Skylines here.
    • Best kept secret for seized bolts is crayons... Heat the sucker up with a torch, and push/melt crayon into it. Works a wonder. See if I can go 2 from 2 for you on how to get your bolts out...
    • If you can get heat to it somehow that and penetrating oil will do wonders. Induction bolt heater, whatever it is.
    • I frequently tell people interested in buying a GTR to either pick a 996 Turbo or E92 335i 6MT. Either one is close enough to being what you wanted from a GTR while being much, much cheaper. I just have brain damage and had to have one anyways.
