Ok thanks,

so the nav and the tv are useless? that sucks, getting it converted to AUS frequency will not make the GPS work though will it but I can still play dvds through it?

As for the inlet plenum flaking, this car is supposedly a genuine one owner 58,135 kilometre vehicle with log books and service records. So it should not be flaking from prolonged exposure to normal heat which means it is likely to be from hard driving generating more than normal heat. Shit I hope the motor is not shagged from being driven hard, that will suck ass if I need to rebuilt the bastard!

I remember reading that import places can convert your radio from Japan to AUS frequency and I believe the TV can be done too.

Ask a few import places and see what they say.

really. do you have hte firmware to do this? unit is jap based and the DVD side of it is locked to another region so its useless as well unless you wish to burn DVD to open region.

in regard to the plenum - last 260 RS I did had 90k on it and it looked the same. think about how much heat is under there..

Sorry I don't have the firmware. Again try the import places.

correct. nope unless you wish to do as I already stated. its easier to rip the lot out and start again. the radio you can save. chuck a $30 band expander on it and use it. if you are in brisbane I keep these.

As for the Inlet Plenums, could be anything really... Thats just one scenario about the heat melting the paint.

The previous owner might have tried to scratch the paint off and did a half ass job LOL!

Its just one of the things to look out for when buy a GTR.

Mind you, the RB engines are indestructable with the right type of maintance (the way you look after it) and care (the way you drive it).

we will agree to disagree on this one. I do these for a living on R34 and V35 cars - its a bin item. the 'import specialists' will tell you the same thing..

I think Carizma International and TGS Performance can do it as well but their in Melbourne, Victoria.

But anyway if getting a new GPS system is a lot easier then it probely the way to go. Cool! :bunny:

i must have admit after just coming back from an audio shop where the guy told me for $750 he flashes the firmware and everything will work except the GPS, the GPS will work if I purchase a different antennae set up?

That sounds like an option. Let us know how you go.
