I hope that wasnt aimed at me buddy. . cause you dont know half the story.

But yeah true, traffic violations etc etc have been present for years. But are you blind to see how relentless they are getting, maybe i just have the wrong idea about them because of certain experiences.

But thats besides the point, the only thing im tryna point out is that they should have some sort of mentality in pointing out a "hoon" from a genuine "enthusiast". To try and sift through the majority of imports on the roads.

The plate theory i guess would be unfair, so what if someones got a number plate called "cop b8", could be an old man driving for all they know, so does that change their mentality? from an old man driving "cop b8" and a 18 year old RED P plater driving "cop b8".

What difference would it make ?

I the 34 i your pic yours? If so, theres your problem buddy. Different coloured bonnets on an NA! Nice....

Mate your on your P's driving an import car that nearly everyone associates with being turbo... And your not allowed turbo, what you think is going to happen? THe cops are going to leave you alone, like everyone else? Hell no, you've made yourself more of a target...

Most P platers regardless of their type of car get pulled over and given a bit of a go by the coppers every now and again. Its part of their scare you into being safe idea. Live with it or get a barina.

Dont know the story about court, dont want to. But as far as I could tell the coppers would be thinking "hmm, 18yr old with a 34, court case and plates, something aint right here."

From what I see, traffic enforcementtn has never changed, in fact it is more lenient than it used to be.

Why would there be a difference in "hoon" and "enthusiast".

Does it make a difference if you are caught with an illegal mod, speeding or anything for that matter. I think not.

Everyone gets stopped. Some more than others. The reasons for that are wide and varied.

Well there has been a fundamental shift in the enforcement policy in the last few years.

The shift if based on the bankrupt notion of road safety as peddled by the arseclowns at Monash University & happilly taken up by State governments across the country.

Essentially now that they have introduced draconians fines for everything they can think of & failed in their stated purpose of having a meaningfull effect of the number of fatalities they have chosen to focus further on "driver behaviour".

When you link this with the equally bankrupt concept of state governments being "tough on law and order" you get them targetting people whom they have labelled as "hoons".

This ties in nicely with a great many voters prejudices about young people & about car enthusiasts.

It just so happens that it has next to nothing to do with road safety.

As for the police enforcement of the laws. They will stereotype you and they will target you if you conform to certain stereotypes.

damn straight! If you fit into a box, they'll treat you like you're meant to be in that box.

And being young is all you need to fit into one of their biggest boxes. I got my licence before the days of P plates and it was no different then. Actually I came very close one day to being beaten up by the coppers so maybe it's better now...

Why can't all the tools drive WRX's, SS commy and base Lancers with EVO body kits (edit: And for the old farts like myself, Swift GTi's and Gemini's) like the good old days???

id say it also depends on the cop that you get. sometimes you are lucky and get one that is nice but other times you aren't and you get one picky ass mo*&^*$@^er!

completely agree. i'm always polite when it comes to being pulled over. i got defected by one cop and he was fantastic. not out to act like a prick. just doing his job. and i definately respected him for that.

but then i got a cop who came up from behind me while i was on the freeway emergency lane with my hazards on waiting for a tow truck to come coz i was having problems (with my old car). he asks me how my night was going...and he actually sounded really concerned. then just like that, it was as if he flicked on some switch in his mind and went all "bad cop" on me...starts defecting me left right and center. tells me to rip the wires out from where some gauges were connected or he's going to defect me etc etc...he was a real...you know.

but oh well...cant always get the good ones...

Im an avid Green P Plater. My first car was my R33 GTS-T. It started standard and by the time id finished with it it was quite tastefully modified. All legal and to the RTA standards. This was whilst I was a Red P Plater. (Prior to all this restriction caper). Then I got my Green P Plates and upgraded to my R33 GTR.

Since getting my licence I have nothing bad to say about the police I have come accross in my travels. I have incurred a few speeding fines, and illegal turns and other minor offences. Im allways polite as people have stated. I always have my licence ready to hand the officer, and try and crack a conversation with them. (Thats if its just a licence check) If not, if ive f***** up and commited an offence I just come clean when the question, "What do you think I pulled you over for?" question comes. No point trying to BS and bend the truth and tap-dance making excuses. This just shows them that you havent realised you made a mistake and have not learnt. Co-operate and make his/her job easier by answering all questions honestly. You shouldnt have any other issues if you do this.

Attitude, Attitude, Attitude!!

We wear those plates for a reason. So we stick out. So that other road users know our experience level and that police can keep an eye over us whilst we increase our skill level so we can one day reach the dizzy heights of an open licence.

The shift if based on the bankrupt notion of road safety as peddled by the arseclowns at Monash University & happilly taken up by State governments across the country.

Those studies are heavily funded by the Victorian government, who would love an excuse for more powers to fine people for, so its not surprising other state governments are lapping it up.

Last Saturday, saw the Police block in George St. They were defecting people left right and centre, pulling them over everything. My mate got done, S15 front and 180 rear, sil80.

He got done for ride height and pod not being enclosed.

Nearly got done for the gauges inside and rims, but let him off.

My car was in the area aswell, just before turning left onto George street, i saw the red and blue lights, so i kept going straight to elizabeth street, had the walkie talkie, but by the time i got to it they were already caught -.-

The cop apparently was a prick, full dissin the import cars saying oh yeah commy's would munch these lil toys blah blah blah, i heard him on the walkie talkie -.- god damn man, cops like that really p*ss me off.

Ignorant and on a god damn power trip..

Sounds like time for an official complaint to have the officer's conduct investigated. If supported by the witness' testimony, the department needs to give you a good explanation for the conduct of it's officer.

Thats true aswell.

But i go there just for the fun of it, like a strip. Just take the car down check out the night life.

I dont go there full blaring my system and shouting outta mah window at all the girls and all.

Yeah one car out of our 5 car convey might, but they're always idiots, and then the girls like the attention and then fuel it even more -.- ( oh god dont get me started on this )

buh yeah anyways, seems like that city tax thing is gonna' cause parramatta to be the new hot spot.

But i like my Saturday night cruise TO the city, not IN the city.

I usually take the car with my mates and just parking under the bridge and walking around.

One thing i dont get, i get disqualified for 3 years from driving, while assaulting someone and actually causing bodily harm gets 12 months good behaviour and a 600 dollar fine.

Why are the cops suddenly so "zero tolerance" on driving / traffic offences ?

Why get so serious now? People are just becoming more rebellious and having the wrong idea of the law and the law enforcer's.

When i went to court aswell, the judge was being a smart ass aswell " your foolish, shouldnt be allowed to drive at all, your too young "

Im standing there pleading my case saying i need it for work etc, just disregards everything.

What are your opinions?

Sorry to hi jack the thread but its gotta stop somewhere.

MRXTCZ

Sounds like an appeal as irrelevant factors were taken into account.

Thats true, seems pretty good for you.

But god, if you check out what happens down here in NSW, i dunno how it is everywhere else but they are damn harsh down here.

My mate lost her licence because one of her P Plates wasnt on, it fell off during a cruise.

Lost her licence in the first week.

They dont believe people steal p plates even though they are cable tied. . like me. Got suspended for it !

Dunno whats going on.

How is everyone else feeling ?

MRXTCZ

I've witnessed people stealing P plates. Or rather, saw them take it off from one car and put it on the nest... Ridiculous... They wouldn't be laughing if it was done to them.

I've had excellent experiences with police. They have always been nice to me and I've always respected them. I know there are a few out there that abuse their power, but its like some car 'enthusiasts' ruining everyone's reputation. My great police experiences are of them finding I didn't have a rear P plate on my car (during double demerits) and allowing me to place a spare one and letting me off. I remember another incident where Ive arrived later with a different P-plate at the rear. As I figured it out, the officer at the RBT set up must have placed one because I must've lost mine. So overall, I think 95% (and from my experience 100%) of police are very fair and just do the tasks and even more for the society.

I've only ever had good dealings with coppers.

Been pulled over twice recently, both times when I've f**ked up.

Since then, I've basically taken the car off the road, and changed my driving habits. Car is off the road until I make it all legal. (No, I wasn't defected, nor was the bonnet "popped" in either instance, both were for driving f**k ups and the coppers wanted words with me... One ended in a fine, the other a stern warning)

Before that, it had been nearly 18 months BEFORE that, that I had been pulled over, and copped a defect notice, but, the copper was nice, and the thing that made him suspicous, was I had 2 missing wheel nuts, but he actually went through and gave legitimate reasons for the defects, (Well, except for one, but a FMIC does look like a cheese grater... Just the factory radiator support is going to do more damage... Ah well)

But all of my dealings had been good, and I had a good history with the force until recently, of which I f**ked up, which, will probably bring me under more suspicion for a long time to come, until I can show that I'm not being an idiot...

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365.
