Hi guys, so i am desperately trying to find someone who can help me out here. Im new to this forum, but i am on several others.

Here is my post on gtr.uk

http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/99254-r3...ny-help-12.html

I have to export my gtr from the USA because they said it was illegally imported (not by me, i bought it from the US). So i am looking for someone to import it/store it in AUS for me, but i will still own it so i can bring it back to the USA after it is 25 years old.

I am looking for someone trustworthy that can store it for me or help me find a nice rural place to store it until i can get it back to the US or canada.

If anyone can give me some feedback or advice i would greatly appreciate it. I paid so much for this car and need to be thrown a bone, this whole situation has destroyed me.

Thanks.

Thomas.

honestly? like, honest honest opinion?

it's a 1990 gt-r and you're willing to ship it over to australia until it's 25 years old so you can re-import it

like

honestly

i know it's a gt-r and everything

but

bottom line

it's just a pile of metal n plastic, and it's currently 18 years old

sell it to someone abroad who CAN legally own it

and buy another legally imported one

you'll make your hair go grey man...

ok, after reading up on a lot of requirements to import into AUS, i would be willing to "DIY" but i will need to be there for about a week and need someone to help me out sourcing some stock parts, going through the compliance, etc. Either that or i can go through a broker, but that would cost me significantly and im already out so much after getting it taken from me in the first place.

I have thought of that already, but here in the states the car was $26k, thats just how much they go for here. So do i sell it for next to nothing to someone overseas or do i get someone to help me out and store it for a while and at least have a chance to get it back. The "legally imported ones" in the US are about $30k+, and i along with the previous owner, thought the car was legally imported. I got the car siezed from me and he got his money that i gave him for the car seized.

Ive already heard enough people tell me that i need to "just sell it". After paying $26k for something that overseas is only worth $10k or less, its kinda hard. If i could sell it for $14k or so, fine ill take that loss, but i dont think that will happen.

Im really looking for the hook up here, just someone to put it in thier barn or whatever under a cover and drive it once in a while. I can pay a yearly charge for storage i really dont care.

Bottom line i could pay a little more and get the car back eventually or sell it for scraps, dont know what to do as of now but i would rather just have it stored somewhere safe until i can get it back.

If you're gonna export it, the Carribean might be a better and cheaper option. I'm no expert on Carribean cars, but they do export used cars from Japan there. Maybe J-Spec or someone has more experience in this area can give him a better answer. Even Canada could take it under their 15 year rule??

he can't export to canada unfortunately for him.

Anyway, I posted on your UK GTR OC thread, and my thoughts are still the same. but if you want somewhere to store it I guess OZ is as good as any other. but if it's really nice I would just export it here and sell it. you will get about $23,000 AUD for it which pretty close to USD at the moment.

You could send it to NZ save on Duty and compliance.

Just a thought.

If your really dead keen I have a couple of big sheds I could store it for you.

ship to the Caribbean i'd say. they'll take anything and shipping can't be much to there compared to oz.

at the end of the day its just a crusty 1990 gtr, is it worth all the hassle? cut your losses now and get rid of it, and look at buying one later down the track when it is legal.

OR

get someone like Kaizo to sell you a "unibody" and transplant the internals of your car to the unibody. that way you could technically get a 1994 R32 GTR legally road registered right now in the US.

why is it that funky and i always seem to think to most rationally

it's an 18 year old piece of machinery

with the letter R on it

this is not worth turning your hair grey over

you could export it

worry about what's happening to it

pay for it

re-import it again later, drive it, have it break down on you

OR

you *COULD* ... get over it and move on with life...
