$130 seems pretty good for a whole kit.

but is it worth the extra money for the kit or can a i go to a workshop and they'll make a custom kit and jsut buy a lock bar?

does anyone else know of a place that sells lock bar KITS?

Most kits are just 2 bolts and washes to block the holes, however i would get a small line made so that the fluid can circulate like normal or take out the complete system like i am.

+1.. and save 30 odd kg's by ripping out the rest of the system

Most kits are actually solid bars that are to replace the HICAS steering rack, not washers. That is why they cost a couple of hundred dollars. However, as usual, there are quick ways to do the job of disabling HICAS (washers and bolts) and there is the proper way.

The kit seems sound. You want to remove HICAS rack and replace it with the $130 kit you mentioned. However, to fully benefit, you will want ot remove all plumbing associated with the HICAS system. This will provide two benefits 1) No more spooky high speed cornering shenanigans from the HICAS system, and; 2) As mentioned above, a weight saving of around thirty kilograms (a considerable amount for the porky GTR)

In summary, try the $130 lock kit, but be sure you have the remains of the HICAS system removed as well...
