patrick if that is true mate i could kiss you :D i will have to go by that servo again. is it the one which used to be a Nafta and then renamed to united close to the westal road intersection??

Nick Boost98 is no longer mate, its been replaced with premium98 (without ethanol) and has been for a few months.

See discussions in the vpower thread in the gen section of forums....this was my latest post....

Okay everyone I did receive a call from Shell Australia, and while she wasn't a tech and therefore able to provide details the following is a sum up of what she said....

Basically due to the fact that australia has a limited refining capacity they are unable to make vpower racing. This is due to the fact that the base product they use to make vp racing by adding ethanol is not an existing product. This means that in order to refine and make vpower racing they have to hold production of vpower and (I think) E10. This causes problems with the supply of not only vp racing but two other of their products and therefore they are not in the position to continue making vpower racing.

In her own words, vpower racing is a very profitable product and they are aware that they have a good market for it, however at this time they do not have the refining capacity to continue making it. This decision had been made and it is very unlikely that it will change due the factors I have mentioned.

Shell have offered to send a rep and/or tech expert to have an open discussion at a SAU Vic meeting, so I will contact the committee and set up a date.

To that end.....ash/bec/whoever is resp. for this please get in contact with me so we can set this up. I'm sure there are a lot of members who wish to have words with Shell regarding this. I am away on work so am only contactable via PMs/email (just!) until this weekend.

There goes my safety against pinging when hitting the track :(

Hey all I've got a contact for fuel if you need any for track day's top quality at a fair price. One of the up sides to working in my field!

hehe, you are your contacts :D

the 33 coming along ok?

It's getting there just did brakes and suspension, thinking of putting in a cage too I'll prob be taking the car off the road soon and doing full exhaust and full intake system. After that it's respray time if I can stop myself going to nuts on custom bits!

For those that don't know, I work for the parent company of the national distributor of V-Power Racing amongst other fuels and other customers. I am emailed daily of the locations for delivery the next day and also the amounts of ethanol we collect etc.

Whilst V-Power Racing is still being delivered, I am happy to help fellow SAU'ers who are after the 100 RON.

my local shell

v power $1.67

v power racing $1.69

go figure

in the past few months at times v racing was same as v power and was even less than v power a couple of times at my local supplier.

United on Princes Hwy, near springvale intersection has a new sign saying "Premium 100". So i doubt they would be phasing it out if they placing up new signs

sorry to dig up an old thread but my supplier finally ran out of v-racing and i just found out united 100 is available at Mulgrave, will be filling up there today..

hope everyone supports united (and especially Mugrave Store since its close to me :D )

Vpower was good, I noticed the difference... wouldn't say 20 kw, more like 5 KW if that... but felt the car run smoother and more responsive. What a shame... wonder why they chose to shut it down... however, Vortex 98 is good too...

Basicaly it was costing Shell money, which the could not fund anymore due to only a small amount off ppl using it as opposed to the 91, 95 and 98 RON.

What an absolute bonus. I was having to make a 48k round trip to Bayswater to get the 100RON before a race. Mulgrave is much closer to me. They haven't even updated this on the United web site, still only shows Bayswater and Albury.

Cheers ;)

Lowth has been doing some testing with his Evo & another mates... and the 100 from then doesnt really delivery anymore than shell/bp 98 ;)

Not worth the coin apparently... But then all motors are different

    • All I can say Duncan is good luck and I hope that Neil did not run any E85 in Cheryl. I have recently experienced the full spectrum of fuel tank issues in my R33's that had been caused by E85 and contaminated fuel. When you take the cover off the top of the tank and have a look inside you will get an understanding of how easy it will be. Best case situation is clean fuel with minimal contamination. My GTR was like this and it was a very simple operation to just grab the fuel pump carrier bracket and slide it up and out of the tank. My three GTS_T's had different levels of fuel contamination that was probably caused by E85 in the fuel.  In the worst case all of the metal components in the tank had rusted to the point where there were pieces of rusted metal swirling around in the tank. This required the removal of the exhaust, the tailshaft, the complete rear cradle and the fuel tank. The components in the tank were that rusted that it took days to get the fuel pump carrier and the mounting brackets out of the tank. When the tank was finally cleaned, everything inside the tank had to be replaced. With the tank all back together I could then reinstall it in the car along with everything else that had to come out. Good luck and I hope that you find a clean tank.
    • It is a two door. It is black and also still has the OEM wheels and stereo. Exact model would be KR_R32RGFEL_SS According to GTR-Registry.com is a 2 Door Coupe; RB20DE; 2WD no HICAS; MT.F5; (11L) Projector Headlamps and Fog Lights; (12_) Electronic Active Full Auto Air Con (Climate Control); (13-14SS) V Selection -- Which seems to be accurate description of my variant. Will try to upload a few pictures soon. The OEM wheels look like the below image. Image is taken from the goo-net-exchange website.
