180 dude, 99% of cars that come from Japan (grey imports) have 180 speed limiters on them, thats why your speedo only goes to 180. At a mates farm tested my car it cut power at about 190, but I'm not sure if I was doing 190 exactly my only indicator of that is that the speedo went just a tad over the 180 mark before it cut out.

Cheers,

Evan

next question, whats a reliable fuel cut defender that would be suitable to install. for track days etc i dont wanna be limited to 180. from what iv seen so far most units piggyback to the ECU but there isnt a way to reprogram the ECU itself is there?

either get a chipped ecu... ie mines etc that has all this removed or get a fuel cut defender and you will have to cut the speed wire to the ecu as I don't think there is anything to remove this from a std 33 ecu....

Or doesn't Dr Drift remap 33 ecus for a decent price????

Or do the ghetto approach and cut the speed limiter wire from the ECU.

search the forums.. there was a thread with the exact wire to cut..

or maybe put a seperate live to the fuel pump and a switch,i was going to try it but bought a power fc so then there was no need

yeh, dr drift does them. but a few things to consider before you spend money on it:

1. based on my previous experience at Winton when my car was non turbo... there wasent a big enough straight to even get up to 180 in an N/A....don't know if your going there or not

2. I would assume there is a reason they are limited... ie, you could stuff your crank/engine/gbox, in the same way they are rev limited...so your pistons don't bounce out of the block...

3. are you going to spend the money on the supporting mods to allow your car to do that speed as safely as you can be at 180km... ie, suspension, brakes? because if you have more braking power you can go faster for longer...

How much would a chipped ECU cost anyways.

Need to go over 180 on track!!

MRXTCZ

LOL.. I dont think there is a straight on NSW tracks long enough for our NA's to reach 180.

Besides.. bu the time you reach about 160km/h the car really starts to shake and that speed.. you'll shit bricks..

dont ask me how I know.. but take my word for it..

it shouldn't shake, theres something wrong with it,i'vy been 150 mph in my r33 n/a and it don't shake at all,try getting your wheels balanced and if you have aftermarket wheels you may need spigot rings on them

lmao.

ive been 140 with no problem.

i was overtaking a supra on the m4 :)

not sure what i can push it to, and wont risk my license in trying to find out.

... then why did u hit 140? lol

Honestly dont see the point in chaning the ECU, you wont get 180 out of the motor on the track in a N/A. You are only going to do more damage then good to your car.

If you are seriousle about goin quick on the track or down the quater, then buy a race car, they arent that expensive now days.

But price of a new ECU? well that will depend on the brand and quality that you want. Havent looked at buying one cause i think its a waste in a N/A, but a google search will probably do wonders.

My Two Cents

might have something to do with yours being an R32 :D

then again i know my suspension isnt stock, way to stiff, but it sits down nicely at 100ks +.

you shudder mightv been from warped discs if you were braking?? hehe
