I think in the end he just decided against it because he reckons he just needed 4 paw power for when it is wet.

His final options were a 997TT, R35 and the TT-RS. He was always most keen for the RS - just because it was different - but he'd always been concerned over the fact the the engine hangs so far over the front wheels.

But apparently he took it for a spritted drive last night and is mightly impressed with it out of the box so we'll just have to wait and see I guess.

I'm going to be interested to see how this runs in Tassie this year! He gets to run it as M2 (LMS) regs as well so it will be interesting to see just how well it performs. If you don't know who it belongs to the plates help give it away! *Hint - he used to drive a Black Porka...fast :)

Can't wait to hear this thing, love the sound of a 5 pot

Joisus! Whats the scoop? lol

I had to do a couple of little mods to shift the car from Z Tune Spec to N1 spec (basically so I could run in Early Modern rather than R35 fodder class).

This basically included changing the exhaust over to a 3" system and putting on some N1 spec turbo's. Only when we got to the turbo' we discovered the water lines were infact being oil lines. A quick inspection of the radiator showed it too was pretending to be an oil cooler.

So the engine had to come out and be inspected. The head gasket looks ok so we "presume" its a cracked head. But I can't be 100% sure so since there was a spare N1 engine laying around we've chucked that in instead now. So fingers crossed we get it sorted out by the weekend. The MCA's aren't looking likely to be ready though which sucks. But they've just had one issue after another!

did you have to modify things to fit the mca's?

looks like Garwood might not be back to defend his wrest point crown at this point in time.

Haha - yeah Handbags sent me through some pics. Your guys engine looks a LOT more busted than mine did LOL And you have less time to fix it. Plus you have to respray the car from the fire!

You were riding shotgun at the time right? What was the call? Right 6 into Left 5, 100, Engine Failure into Fire Ball into Immediate Lots of Swearing? :)

Good luck with it all though. Team Last Minute FTW!

Yeah I was riding shotgun. Hadn't called anything...was enjoying the ride. Must have been very hot back there and by all accounts the fireball out the back was massive!

We're on the boat next Wednesday night so we have 8 days. Fingers crossed the car will be ready for a dyno run Monday and a run around Winton on Aus Day. Plenty of time!!!!

Will be watching intently all you guys on the interweb :P

Timmy and I made the call yesterday, no Targa Taz 2010 for us :P

Hopefully we'll get together for a couple of shorter events though, Mt Stuart being one, it's a good little relaxing event :P

Sorry to hear it Benny - but I can fully understand it. I'm struggling to find the time to do it this year as well and to be honest if I didn't have the free entry I'd be thinking twice. It's such a big commitment of time (and $$$ obviously). I worked out the other day that the bare minumum I can do the event in time wise is around 13 days in Tassie. Plus all the other shite back home. It's a killer!

But the good news for you is there is there is a rumour that there is going to be a cracking new short event (2 days) in November on the mainland. One day Stu might man up and actually tell everyone all about it :P

    • Ended up spending a WHOLE day yesterday cleaning and rearranging my shed.  Due to the aforementioned disorder, my shed is as cluttered and confused as my brain. Again, because of said disorder,  at any one time there are 5 projects on the go at once and because they're still on the go I don't put everything away so I can "get straight back to it" which rarely happens.. So anyway,  I bought a couple of cheap 2mx2m all steel "pallet racks" to put in my back shed.  The idea is to then take pretty much everything out of the main shed that isn't car related. Most of the garden and building stuff is now booted out to the back shed and onto to the shelves where they belong! There's still more rearranging and reallocating to do and it's still a bit busy in there but it's a massive improvement on how it was previously. I've discovered floor space I forgot I had...  For those that have fully dismantled a car before will understand just how much space it takes up!  Particularly panels, bumpers, engine/trans, etc.  I've got stuff hanging on every available wall to get it up off the floor!  This is not exciting content for a blog but has certainly made the shed feel like a more work ready space now!
    • Updating results from our ATR43SS-1 turbo in T3 .63, OEM bolt dump pattern. Not a big number but pretty sweet for a stock Rb20det. Car's managed to pull 220rwkws at 20psi, perfect boost control internally gated with EBC and excellent mid top end power band as they usually skydive after 5.5K. Usual bolt on supporting mods and inlet plenum and factory location exhaust manifold. Pump 98 fuel was used (Ron 93).
