i was wondering if it was in TT showroom trim. As I was wondering what the pecking order would be in 6 weeks time, as a showroom spec car isn't going to have any great leaps forward

So we had an interesting weekend.

Seems the dreaded cold tyres/turn 1 curse was out and about over the weekend.

We started off with an uneventful 4:45 and spent the rest of the weekend trying to match and better that time. Stage 2 saw us massively sideways, rear end in a ditch, rear bumper torn off and right rear alignment shot to pieces...all on turn 1. Despite this we still managed a sub 5 min stage time and all we lost was the rear bumper and a little shine off the car! A spin at turn 3 later on in the day saw a 4:57 before the rally gods allowed some form of speed and we finished Saturday off with a 4:43 on Stage 6.

Adam took the car back to Techsport for a rear alignment that evening while i found some accomodation and the biggest parma i have ever seen.

Sunday saw a much more consistent effort with the only thing effecting our times a damaged Porsche(with oil everywhere) and a little bit of drizzle that we backed off for to ensure a finish.

The final stage 10 started off well and only got better as we blitzed the 9.3kms, smashing our previos best by 5 seconds to end the weekend with a 4:37.7. Good enough to be the 4th quickest on that stage.

Results saw us 6th outright, with a 1st in class, a great lead-in to Targa Rookie in a month.

Was fantastic to catch up with everyone and Jess, Burgo's R looks a heap of fun :-)

Well done Adz and Lemish!!! What a great result!!

Was great to catch up with u guys :)

I had a ball after we sorted out the electrical problems in the GTR. Best run we got was the last one 4.47 which we were very happy with considering we were running 2WD from the 3rd corner and 410kws at the rears.....was a wild ride!!!!

Lake mountain was loads of fun..pretty slippery but there was some great sections especially the last part after the carpark at the top.. ;)

sooooo looks like Mt Buller is not happening :) and its Targa HiCountry is where its at....

octagon will make a fortune on protests. i know there are quite a few 'special spec' cars being done down here.

I see your now in a ATTKD Select SP car.

Congrats to Dan and Adam- brilliant result!

How did you go Liam? Times looked good.

Sounds like there will be a few *special spec* cars turning up to targa this year

Went alright for the first outing (and first time ever driving with semi's), had two runs where we pulled over to check if the car infront of us and had a run where it was raining for the first few cars off (and dried out as they pulled a porche and cortina off the road). All up was a good experience, just need to learn to trust the tyres a lot more to keep more corner speed and Dad and i will need to get some practice together to get the notes right.

Oh and had an off on the first corner of the 6th run so we dnf'd. Tyres were cold and didn't expect the corner to be as slipery as it was. I have this on our incar camera and i took the same line and was even slower than the previous runs but still went around. Ended up on the bank behind us and did a little damage to the rear bumper but nothing mechanical :ninja:

Entry is in for High Country so between now and then i will be doing as much track time as possible learning the tyres and car and might have to do some night runs somewhere with dad to help with the notes..

I did wonder how a 'showroom' spec Evo could be so fast...

Can't imagine how much 'fun' 410 rwKw would have been although it was amazing how much grip there was on the last run...we found 5 seconds on our fastest run and Sammy and Claire found 6 seconds. Seems to be that the colder it is there, the more grip there is.

Liam, was that you in the Silver 33? That first corner is a doosy. On reflection, i'm of the opinion that the wider entry you take into that first corner, the more likely you are to have a moment or spin.

So bring on Targa, we're tweaking the car a little more to get the f/r balance better on less fuel and a little front end alignment tweaking to finsh it all off, oh, and a return to 98 :)

Well done to Handbags and Dan - great result and you guys sure will be tough to beat in Rookie this year.

I got up on Sunday and had a small play in the Tour with Matt Close and his newly prepped TT-RS. It was basically his first run in the car and we had a great little comparison test between him and my R35. It sure is super quick through the twisties but struggles a little in the real fast stuff. Still from what I could see and how he felt afterwards I reckon he'll be right up there in April again. He's done a great job on the car too - I bet in the next 12 months after he runs at TT they become the new EVO. Another mate of mine (and another Matt) also did the Tour in his completely stock TT-RS and our other 2 mates in their mildly modded EVO 9's were no match for him up the hill.

Oh - and one for Stu. I had a chat to Stevey Jones after the event who is understandidly sick of "that Lambo" LOL. So I asked him why they didn't go to Spec V specifications (basically so he can drop some weight) and he told me that they aren't allowed too.

IS that right? Surely it can't be.

were you running e85, or race fuel?

bigger spec-v turbo's would probably brighten his day too. 1/2 the problem is the spec-v is, it's full of changes that Nissan don't advertise, i know garrage saurus pulled one appart and found that the turbo's, throttle bodies are different.

Yeah i was the driver of the silver 33 and Dad was the nav. The whole of day two i went through the first 3 corners at snails pace and was still breaking traction under light throttle on the exit. One of the locals was saying that that corner gets alot of ice on it over winter, like there will be ice there before there will be ice further up the mountain, don't know how much of an effect this would have on the road surface though...

Awww so sorry Liam for not coming over and saying Hi!!! :D Was very busy on saturday and I was freezing on sunday so rarely got out of the car :) Will definatly come and introuduce myself at Targa HiCountry!!!

That first corner was a doosy...but we had more trouble on the 3rd the 3L (We call it Patricks corner now) got massive understeer!!! But managed to keep it on the black stuff!

Hopefully I will have some incar footage I can upload soon of Buller and Lake Mountain. That last run will be so wild... was crossed up all over the place...Love every minute of it haha..Was hillarious that we did the fastest run in 2WD....

Good Luck for Targa!! You guys are going to be ACE! I wont be there Burgo will have Patrick from the RX7 Nav for him :)

I see your now in a ATTKD Select SP car.

I'm always amused by the old "driver needs nav" thing...... like, what happened to the last poor bastard who sat beside you?
