just spoke to the rallysafe guys. Their system will be handed out at classic adelaide as they were at targa tas. They're still unsure when the product will be ready for purchase by joe public.

They're confident that octogon are going to sign an agreement for all four targa events so it looks like they'll continue to be handed out free of charge (well, included in your entry fee) for at least this year and next.

opinions....can you have a well setup targa 33 gtr which is a weapon in circuit events? hoping for a car that can do low 2:20's (on slicks) at bathurst this year but want it to fit within the targa rules.

or do i give up and buy an evo and forget about the circuit stuff? (sorry to mention the e word on here)

One word.... 400R...... That thing of Davids is off its head. Watched it launch off a few stages and it hooks up and goes like stink. Apparently it burns a litre of E85 per km to do it though. :)

Would definately be a quick circuit car too I imagine. But I am sure all that power hurts tyres as well, although snowy makes his last OK. I think similar to Snowies build of a Z tune, you can build you 33 as a 400R replica and work anywhere up to the full spec of the 400R. So you can take advantage of any turbo, cam, stroker engine and other options that model offers but not necesaroly all of them. ie. Snowy didnt bother building a stroker motor. But I think you will have to get the cosmetic side of it right and have all the right body kit.

TK80 - My company is an agent for Monit and Terratrip. Can look after you on both and we offer discounts for Targa entrants!... the Monit is a massive improvment over Terra from every angle and we can supply wheel, eletronic speedo and GPS probe options.

Roy - You know you need a rotor...

yep R33 N1's, full boost at 5500rpm. dad ran 25psi through them in Targa 2010, and we checked them after the event, and they are still like new. cams were stockers n1's.

anyone with R34 N1's who winges needs a kick in the pants.

Yeah but if EMO 4's + 6's are running EMO 9 Titanium RS turbo's...... anyone who runs R33 N1's would be an idiot. :)

^^^^ Possibly!!! ;) If you are finding the genuine factory replacement turbo hard to find, there might be an option to consider a suitable replacement be it a genuine nissan fitment from a later model nissan or an aftermarket equivalent....just sayin... Of course you would be silly to do it without consulting the organisers. :)

Eggsacary!

I believe it depends on if you can buy em new from Nissan or not... Of which who knows. It's funny with Nissan what they still make, and what they do not. Some of it defies logic.

Nice little upgrade for EVO4 owners though, EVO9 turbo is a nice step up.

  • 3 weeks later...

So... the white dragon has officially gone to a new home.

Happily to someone from the SAU community so we should still get to see it kicking around in the future.

But it was an awesome car (in the end!) and will be missed.

I'm still not 100% set on my future plans - other than to say that I do have future plans - but whatever it turns out to be I sure hope it can bring me the same amount of joy as the R34 era did.

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
