I have it on good authority that any "good" bits had well and truly left the building before we got our hands on the 34.

I was actually referring to the 32 re engine mount wing nuts... you may recognize the car,.... by it's tail lights :D

well played sir

I remember speaking to Rex's nav at the start of grasstree hill, and he assured me you had a 2.5. i told him you didn't, and asked if was going to protest you, and he said "na, we don't want to be pricks"

I was going to write a long reply about how Jimmy himself also couldn't believe the pace and assumed our car's illegality, but I've decided not to bother, it's too long ago. Contrary to popular automotive folklore though, it seems Porsche was actually the first manufacturer with ABS in 1974, not Mercedes.

A 2.5? Well, I hoped that someone had put a head gasket in the thing. There was a "xxxxxxx performance cylinder heads" sticker on the bumper when I bought it, so I assumed something special was in there. But no, I was jipped, all stock :(

I'm sure only a few people at TWP12 would have noticed a guy by the name of Ewan Cole in a CAMS shirt at the event?

Ewan is the newly appointed Technical Commissioner for the Targa Championship going forward, and was at the event to familiarise himself with the targa world.

Ewan's experience in motorsport runs back to the 70's, he has been the CAMS appointed Chief Scrutineer of the Australian F1 GP since 1985, has previous involvment in Touring Cars and Porsche Cup further to being the current Technical Commissioner of the CAMS Australian GT Championship.

Ewan and his team have been tasked with responsibility to ensure fairness... so if you're running TT12, please take the opportunity introduce yourself to him and him to your car too :)

LOL @ "first" :)

Thanks Stu, good to hear.

And Timmy, the new BMW's are also running BW I think from what I've read? Got rid of twins on the sixes for a single twin scroll? Has Gav driven the little Frog in anger yet?

Yeh and their diesels have gone triple turbo or something?

Gav should be testing soon, he did drive it before the cage and everything went in. Its at Captain Fathoms for some love as we speak.

So the capri vid has gone viral..... over 650,000 hits (or over 800,000 if you look at counter on the search page) ..... was 340 somthing when I watched it yesterday..... wonder what the "monetizing" kickback from google is on that to the author? Enough to fix the car? Not that the owner of the car will necesarily see any. Be intersting if a deal was struck in that regard. Seems fair.

^^^ Yep, was a story on some stoopid baby video in the UK that went viral and ended up paying for all their kids education. Have had google prompt me to "monetize" (their spelling not mine :) )some of the vids I have put up but I havent bothered with it. Be interesting to know the numbers. There are set ads on that vid so its definately monetized.

Well picked up my first rotary engine yesteerday. Gonna start collecting them. Apparently you need a few of these things to get through an event?

70s Porsches have to run magnesium blocks, RB20s can't run 25s, early Mazdas can apparently run improved motors with different plates and rotor housings with altered ignition timing, where's me protest money? :rofl2:

^^^ Stump it up tiger. :) The rules seem pretty open in classic, especially if you throw handicap out the window and go for outright classic spec. Surprising amount of latitude. I still dont think it will be any match for the trick porkas and possibly the capri pirhana (they do like water right? ) but hopefully will be a hoot to drive. Was watching some youtube footage of a HSV at Wrest Point. Wasnt the fastest thing but man he looked to be having fun.

I think you still have to click the ad's though to actually get anything

Anyone know much about pedal boxes? Am guessing a floor mounted jobbie would be the go for the RX7? My gut feel is tyhe usual spend as much as you can afford to applies as it is an area you dont want to cut corners on. Any experience appreciated.

Seems quick research reveals you can get an OBP unit from the UK for a very reasonable price although a little googling reveals they may have their shortfalls. Dont want dodgey pedal feel and performance.

Then there is tilton 600 series for reasonable money.

Tilton 900 series for more.

Then AP for crack pipe money. :)

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
    • Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues
