THC website will be launched on the 15th and turns out my email has a technical issue sending out... will be fixed this arvo and demon deal pricing included!

I take it you didn't mean June when you said the 15th Stu?

:)

It's easy to sit outside and look in, but I feel the whole media circus around Tugga (to coin a phrase) leaves plenty of room for improvement. It goes without saying that there is millions poured into the sport each year and theres some pretty high profile sponsors floating around, but it seems as though unless you have a raging bull or a zoom zoom or have a monumental off, any sort of coverage is difficult to come by. The tarmac rally scene could have a much larger following if only the media channels were used to good effect. It's been how long since Targa now, and the mainland hasn't seen the TV coverage yet...

thc website isn't far, the requirements placed on our new developer meant things are taking a little longer than hoped.

tony seemed pretty happy when i spoke to him this morning. his plan was to always offer his evo ix to market post-tt10. he isn't confident evo x is the right car for him going forward. i think he'll be happy to play with his off-tap fd3s track car for a little bit, going by the engine and body bits i ordered for him today!

the tt tv show will never keep everyone happy... but i've worked in this office for ten years and near nobody complains compared to times past.

em coverage wasn't great, by by the time the leading cars crash out, blow up and are excluded you aren’t left with much... unless you want to commit a massive injection of funds to redo the show as its required to be finalised very shortly after the event.

over all its a good piece with awesome photography.

I agree it's much better than it once was, the chopper pilot knows his shit, and you can never expect everyone to make it on.

Now tell me ya hunk o spunk, in the old Ovlov being forced to put on some weight and install a steel cage?

Just wanted to find out some finer details in terms of booking accommodation early, it seems that a few places in Mansfield are already booked for the week leading up to the event (which will be the time we plan to recce).

For the actual event will it be based in Mansfield for Friday evening then Buller Sat & Sun night?

Well part of the deal I've made is that car doesn't come with an engine, brakes, shocks, wheels, exhaust or interior. (and tail lights - that car has LED's which I don't want!)

So I'm going to need those parts from the old car as a minimum. The big issue with the other parts on my old car is the bonnet and guards. It will probably run externally as a standard white car for THC but for TT11 I will put the kit back on and then it will be a case of whether the car stays white or goes back to blue. I'm pretty sure I know which way it will go......

But yeah Dan I am keeping the drivetrain in the new one. Anyone want to buy a 5 speed GTR gearbox?? :D

Hey Snowy, did you buy the GT-R off of Aaron? I think I saw that car yesterday when I was there picking up my wing :)

If so, very neat mate!

Well, hmmm, new nav Tash is in the car for THC, gonna be weird without you Timmy!

So Tony isn't running? I bet you do no good with her... you won't be able to keep your eyes on the road!

Spoke with Gav the other day, engine is rooted so bought a built donk out of the states, and will be mated with a Motec/Autronic or similar.

And in other news PAR are rebuilding our Sprinter's dogbox and changing the ratio's for 1st/2nd/3rd to be more appropriate. The bad news from this is it has put back our development and testing on the car a few months so we won't be going to the Southern Mountains rally at Eden in July :D

Yep thats the car. :D \

But only half of it is mine remember. He gets to keep the rest. LOL

BTW - fair sized entry list for THC if the Targa newsletter is anything to go by. Am really looking forwards to seeing the course and the logisitics of it.

From what you were telling me Timmy the S2 will be a cracking car with that new engine combo in there!

Anyone know how wide the roads are at THC? I'm just beginning to wonder what it will be like passing you guys in stage........ :P

It's a good half though! The best of both worlds - driveline from yours, body from his.

PS I don't mind the LED lights... :D

Actually the driveline from his too.

Just the engine, brakes, wheels, exhaust, seats, suspension and tail lights from mine :D

    • GTSBoy on your suggestion on another thread I had a look at those injectors and ended up getting them because of the quality.  Got the expensive ones.
    • Hey guys been looking everywhere to try and find the correct gtr hood latch support part number but only found the first half and when I search with that number it sends me to an r34. The first part I found was 62515. If anyone could help me with the rest then I’d really appreciate it. Or if there’s some alternative hood latch support that would work even better cause I can’t find any for sale. (Searched on upgarage, partsouq, buyee, rhdjapan)
    • If you've only done the upper control arms on the rear, AND you have changed their length (by more than about 1mm) to set the camber you want, then you will definitely need/want to install traction arms also. Adjusting the camber arms on their own WILL introduce bump steer and make the car unpleasant to drive. Most owners have no idea that their car could behave infinitely better than what they put up with. I'm not entirely sure what the Stageas need, but I am thinking that unless you have massive front spring rates and pretty soft rear springs, you have waaaay too much rear bar. Oversteer city, in my estimation. Combined with possible excessive bump steer from maladjusted arms, that could be a recipe for nastiness. ATR43SS2 is not a highflow. It is an outright replacement turbo. It's a little bit bigger than the largest highflow profile that Tao does. Probably a solid 300rwkW turbo where the bigger highflows will be about 30-40rwkW less. Nevertheless, we're only talking about ~300 rwkW, which is well within the abilities of the stock ECu to run with a Nistune on board. I would do so without hesitation - and I will be doing so when I get my finger out and actually get the injectors and AFM installed. But, if you would prefer to drop a whole lot more money on the ECU side, then I suspect you're looking at Haltech. The Haltech fanbois here will all spout on about all the available engine protection you can have, that you can't have with the Nistune option. And they're right. But it doesn't really come for free either. You will spend more money on extra sensors and the like, plus the work to install them. If the engine was built and therefore represented a big investment to protect, then I'd say definitely do it. If you view the current (and forever into the future) shortage of replacement engines as something to prompt similar protection, then also, do it. If you see a destroyed RB25 as an opportunity to put in a Mercedes or other V12 (like I kinda do)... then your perception of the risk/reward might differ. These are good injectors. You can also get a "better" set of the same with more flow matching, for more $$. 1000cc is where you will want to be. You will need an R35 AFM and adapter tube if you want to stay with Nistuned stock ECU. Otherwise, if going Haltech, you can ignore. As for intercooler. Just about anything will do. You're only talking about ~300rwkW. Just put a big core in there. Be aware that return flows do add significant pressure drop and will cost power and will make the turbo work harder to achieve the same goals. If you can manage a proper crossflow, do it. I'm keeping my very good return flow because I'm only expecting to be in the ~250rwkW range, and will live with whatever outcome I get.
    • I have a heap that i have collected if you want some authentic ones still. Pm me if your interested!
