we finally have a good 999 car.... eddie decided using other people's crap was too hard so he purchased quite a nice Emo 8, all prepped up :)

i drove said EMO 8 tonight, it's no GTR but nun the less not bad for an EMO

Ignition Module Needed:

Melinda's car (GTR #832) has new engine fitted and dynoed today by the great guys at GT Auto Garage, but it shit the ignition module half way through. finished the dyno with a lend from a customer car, but had to give it back. I have exhausted my contacts in Brisbane, and will try Just Jap tomorrow morning and see if Steve can bring one with him (if he hasn't already left?)

We are leaving for the drive down tomorrow night though, and would be good to know we have one before we set off..

Anyone with any ideas on where to source one

Cheers

Thanks for all for the replies guys, great response from the rally community!

We have a couple of leads to chase today in Brissy and and I'll ring the Just Jap guys today as well. Also a couple of modules waiting in Hobart if we need them..

Cheers

I'm arriving in Lonnie saturday. Will have the customary piss up at the Olde Tudor saturday arv/evening.... and this time, Dicky Johnson is joining us :)we finally have a good 999 car.... eddie decided using other people's crap was too hard so he purchased quite a nice Emo 8, all prepped up :)

I heard it comes complete with Bibles and Holy Water.....

A little off topic, especially considering the timing, but I'm going to Tassie with my car (on the boat) in the couple of months. I'm staying at Coles Bay for a couple of nights and won't be straying too far once there. I've got 3 hours to kill on arrival before my wife flies in, and then there is the journey to / from Coles Bay plus any worthwhile detours I could consider. I'm looking for some fun driving roads and thought if anyone would know it'd be the Targa crew.

If you've got any suggestions then perhaps PM so we can keep this thread clean(er).

Cheers.

That's easy Nick, take a run up the east coast to The Sideling, or any of the roads around Elephant and St Mary's Pass. Download a Targa Map and cross reference it, not hard to find great roads in Tas! :D

I have one I am not using for the next couple of weeks in Melb if you need it. Pretty sure it's at Racepace in Bayswater if you can drop past there and grab it.

Drop me a message if you need it i'll call ahead and make sure its there.

Yeah they're not exactly rare Paul, I'd assume you'd have one by now?

Yeah you wouldn't think so Woo but trying to get a good one locally yesterday was near impossible. Thanks to the JustJap boys and the Hobart connection at Moonah Auto Spares, there will be a couple waiting for us in Launceston.

It split the front turbo oil drain pipe on its last dyno run today, and had to get that from Sydney too, not a one to be found here..Hopefully that's the last of the issues?

Leaving at 5.00 in the morning, see you all in Tas

if you need anything else my car is apart on the hoist, so you can borrow most thing's, it's kinda like Noah's ARK

there's 2 of everything in my workshop at the moment, 2 engine's, 2 gearbox's, 2 diff's, there's shit everywhere...

Thanks heaps Burgz. hopefully we won't need it but good to have a spare. The one JustJap Steve is bringing down is straight off his car & proven good. He has changed to a R34 setup bacause he was sick of these failing all the time. Catch up with you for a beer down there..

Cheers

    • This is a real nostalgia trip for me, I mean SK Bilsteins? I ran those lol Good times.  Good work Duncan, it's not an easy job in many respects. I'm sure the family appreciates it.
    • It's not a dumb question. I was circling this idea myself. User error is always possible!
    • Nope. The seal is in the drive. A new cable would just fill up and continue to convey oil to the speedo head. To check if this is what is happening, take the cluster out, dismantle the speedo and have a look. You probably don't even have to dismantle it. If there is oil coming up the cable, the drive into the speedo will be grossly greasy. I had to manually (and delicately) clean the gunk out of my speedo.
    • Thanks for the quick response mate, and I agree Nismo 555s, Z32 and high flow 2871 in OP6 housing (run by PowerFC) would all be "period correct" and should be a simple, reliable and reasonably quick track car.
    • It is normal for a speedo to read 0-10% high (unfortunately), intended by manufacturers and ADRs (although not in this case) to ensure your speedo does not read low if your tyres are worn. Speaking of which, what size tyres do you have on the rear, and what does they tyre placard say you should have? you can use this https://tiresize.com/calculator/ to determine what % difference that is causing Personally, when I buy tyres for a car I buy a size that will bring the speedo back to being more accurate; it if it reads 5% high I buy tyres that are 5% larger diameter. If you had an electronic speed sender like R33 onwards, the other option is to add a speedo adjuster but that won't work in R32. Finally, you  might be able to find a different sized gear for the speedo sender but that will be limited to what already exists (and I don't know what sizes do)
