^^^^ That would be great Mark. After having just spoken to racing beat in the US about building a motor for me I am not so sure I want to sell all my organs plus any furure unborn children to have one of their engines. I am sure they are top notch, but circa 20-25k for a rotor engine build (complete long motor with turbo etc) is a bit beyond my budget.

But at the same time, happy to spend decent money to get something I hope will be reliable. Tassie is just too far to go for me to have a mechanical early on.

Heya DARKSIDE,

If you get a motor built by Racing Beat I'll personally fly to Perth and kick you in the nuts...

Their engines are nice, but definitely nothing fancy at all. A rotor motor is built entirely on tolerances. If you find an engine builder who is a toolmaker or good machinist by trade, they will build a reliable motor. It's cute seeing mechanics using micrometers :/ (I'm a toolmaker by trade and managed a Quality Assurance system, so I know my tools)

PM me and we can chat further :D

Mark!

Bahahhaa,

sorry just laughed out loud to a client on the phone when I read that.

Will definately take it off line and PM you when I get closer to doing something.

Dont want to pollute this thread of loving all things datsun with any more rotor talk. They have already suffered enough.

^^^^ Tears streaming out my eyes and sore abdomnen.... Thankyou :)

EDIT....its at least as funny the second time... "...i need somebody to hold my ears...bllluurrghghhh...." bahahahahahhaha

consider going japanese? they know how to make a good rotor motor. had my FD RZ's motor built in japan at a shop called pre-stage. was bloody quick (in build time) and performed very well. Cost was reasonable too.

nothing wrong with the rotors. mine sounded great snapping from 2nd to 3rd sideways at 8,500 rpm. lol. just ask anyone whose lived on elizabeth st sydney in the last few years. i'm sure they'll all say how much they love it. speak up when you ask though as they are almost certainly hard of hearing.

but yeah, noting fancy needed in a rotor. built with the right bits (don't even need exotic seals etc), with the right tolerances and (at least with the late model housings) fairly conservative port work (unless going NA) they make great power and give good service.

13B is the thinking man's RB26... maybe not just coincidence that 13 X 2 = 26 and put the B in front instead of behind and then add the "R" and you get RB26... hmmm conspiracy?

This reminds me of when I had my RX-7 stolen. I was informing the neighbours from a few doors down who's house it was stolen in front of that it had been nicked, and they said to me "Ahhhh yes, the red car. The one that used to shake our windows everytime you pulled up..."

If it ain't a wotor, den it ain't a motor...

lol, I was living in an apartment building in surry hills (sydney) and was parking under the building 3 levels below street level and my apartment was on the top floor (lvl 14). If the car was running in it's spot (just idling) I could hear it in my apartment on the 14th floor! the sound travelled all the way up the elevator shaft (I guess) and could still be heard (well felt really). funny stuff. such a sweet sounding rig though.

When I lived in Buderim with my parents, we had a neighbour with an RX3 PP 12a Atmo that he used to like to warm up for 3 minutes before he went to work at 5am every morning.

Brap Brap Brap LOL.

Dad loved it.

I used to own an RX-3 with a 12a PP too... more reasons for the neighbours to love me...

I'm guessing all you rotor baggers (i'm looking at you marlin) have not heard of 787B??

le_mans_1991_1.jpg

I went to a super GT race in Japan a few years back and they had old GT and LM cars there including the 787B. heard it rap it's way down the 1km+ straight at fuji and I reckon if you were outside somewhere on the west coast of aus you'd have heard it too!

I'd go as far to say I'd take it over any skyline/GTR ever built!!! my god it would be a quick way to die!! I can't even drive the thing flat knacker in GT5 let alone real life.

you sure you're not from sydney's western suburbs? lol. you sure you don't like gold chains? seriously though. nice one. I like the old RX3s. another good way to die in a loud car without taking too many down with you!
