Given that he's broke, and couldn't really afford the tyre's that were on the car, i don't recon there's any truth in that at all..

i'll bet my left nut on Eddie being on the up and up, the guy is a freak behind the wheel...

i'll tell you a story about Eddie going to help Vandenberg do a tyre test at baskerville one day, Jamie had done 2 40 lap run's on 2 different sets of tyre's, and couldn't

get any more from his Evo 9, Eddie jump's in the thing, having never driven the car, on 40 lap old tyre's and ripped over a second off him...!!!!!!!!

I HATE POOR LOSERS......

Agreed Burgz

I entered the Highclere hillclimb a couple of months ago, Eddie put it over me by nearly 2 seconds- most of which I attributed to it being his local stomping ground. Come TWP and Dover reverse (which is my home town and I like to think I know the road rather well) Eddie proceeds to tear 3 seconds of my run....so much for my local knowledge theory :whistling: He drove the wheels off that thing, any rumours of cheating etc are unfounded garbage and as Burgz said, from sore losers.

Agreed. Pretty dissapointing that shit gets flung and often the receiver is unaware of it and has no chance to defend him/herself. Seems it doesnt take more than a few people to whisper the same "story" for it to then become fact. These cars dont drive themselves. OK, evos do but...... :)

^^^ Yep. Thats one scary crash. Wont be showing that to the missus. She hates water..... Testament to the quality fo the safety gear that they walk away. Apparently one of the 2 cars in the drink didnt have head restraint seats and HANS devices resulting in some neck injury. Personally woudlnt race without them.

I spent a week sitting in the car with Eddie doing 999 duty last year, so it came as no suprise to me that he did extremely well. He's fast!

And I do hate it when rumors start and undermine a great result..... Besides, my opinion has always been, the car is only 20 or 30 percent of any result.

Well said Woo. Far too much emphasis put on the car and its outright power and straight line speed when considering the results achieved. Reckon a good steerer, good codriver, good notes and thorough recci along with a reliable well setup easy to manage car will net better results than sonething with a stroker and a few extra killerwasps.

I am concerned that Snowie suggested i get a HANS device. Not sure what he has planned this weekend

LOL - I said that because the helmet you will be wearing has HANS posts attached so you may as well use one if you can get your hands on one!

ESPECIALLY since we will literally be rolling this car off the dyno and onto the start line - so I won't have a chance to find out if Chris has broken the secret R35 ABS button or not until we are out among the tree's - and we saw during recce that some of those tree's trunks up there were wider than the car! LOL

Spot on there too Woo. Once you have all the other boxes ticked, then the cheater killerwasps come into play. Fark the corners, its all about holding it flat in the straight bits.

Yep, glorified drag racing, that's all tarmac rallying is.....

Snowy, are you not listening to any of the info offered above :) Still, as team last m,inute you have had some epic results. :)

And Bris, I always rated you as super hardcore. You are now about 1 step below Chuck Norris. Your inbuilt HANS device is epic. :P

Remember 2008 in the 34, we were surrounded in the line up at the start of each stage by evo's. Several of which were later found to have stroker motors and all the illegal bits under the sun. Where were they in the results though? no where... instead of perhaps coming 37th they came 34th. The same year Steve Glenney won in a legit 9.

All comes to driver ability.. Seem to recall another team that didn't do half bad in 2009 in an alleged RB30DET power 32.... Id love to see the look on those haters faces when you stripped the engine down!

Eddie can seriously drive, I have seen him in his Escort on the gravel, times being mixed with more 4wd machinery than 2wd.

I heard a mumble after prolgue (said clearly loud enough for me to hear) "...well they will be pulling that one down at the end...". I begged them to test the stroke at the finish line and the scruit looked at the threatening skies and was like "....oorrr mate, it looks like rain...She'll be right..." :) I guess if nobody ponies up the protest money, or makes noises that they are goign to protest eh Snowy?, then its all good.

Ah - I had the wrong bits and was done for them. I've moved on :)

Although it's amuzing because before entering Mt Baw Baw I rang PW and told him I'd like to enter the event but had been building the car to Octagons regs rather than theirs (which are now quiet a ways part and I wonder if this is one of the reasons for their poor attendance). Anyways - when I told him my car would be illegal in a number of spots according to his rules he basically laughed and said they didn't care what people ran.

I'm not entirely sure that a free for all is the best ways forwards but it would be nice if we had a national set of regs that everyone used and that were all actually enforced.

Certainly hurts the guys in the west running to CAMS regs. I expect those partiuclar regs will start to look much more like the Octagon regs soon enough. Certainly makes sense to have some consistency and really it will have to be a case of follow Octagons lead as they have the jewel in the tarmac rally crown.

Oh I remember alright, and I thank my lucky stars that I had the forethought to equipe the engine mounts with wing nuts so we could do a quick swap out in the middle of the night.

    • You see R34 GTRs listed for 200-300k are they really selling for these prices? Kinda seems like the same ones listed all the time. Even with R33 GTSTs looking at gumtree. You have an auto with a bitsa interior for 35k. Another one needs an engine rebuild and asking 24k. And then you have a stock in better than average condition for 45k. Nobody is ever going to pay these prices.
    • Only needed to pull out the seats, center console and gear shifter surround, took a weekend and a fair few beers. You get to look forward to finding all sorts of weird shit under the seats and carpet, I pulled out a Chinese dudes passport from 2003, 220 yen and a condom wrapper 😆
    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
