here are the rough numbers from FAST...

ECR33 - 001000 1993 August (First R33 Built)

ECR33 - 063435 1995 December (S1.5 around here somewhere - ballpark near ECR33 mid 055000)

- model change-

ECR33 - 102000 1996 January

ECR33 - 135381 1998 April (Last R33 built)

so from this we can see ballpark there are around 65,000 Series 1's and approx 35,000 series 2's

SO I HAVE A SERIES 1.5???

whats the big issue?

i swear a few people have said yes its a series 1.5 - its a series 1.5

to be a legit series 2 i would expect

- series 2 interior

- series 2 dash cluster (bevelled warning lights, s1 has flat dash lights)

- series 2 dash (bubbled and textured, s1 has flat matt black)

- series 2 wing

- series 2 engine and front bar, lights, bonnett

- 1996 VIN or build date, anything pre 1996 is almost always 1.5 or 1

- series 2 boot SKYLINE panel is same colour as car (s1 has clear panel)

to be a legit series 2 i would expect

- a silver rear trunk lock badge

- dual airbags

- no coin holder near the mirror controls

Added 3 more changes to paulr33's list.

The most obvious change is that series 2 has dual airbags. Series 1.5 only driver side airbag and series 1 no airbag whatsoever. No matter how you see it, the airbag is the one thing no one can change hence it you only have what you have then you know what series skyline you have.

You can have a series 1 with series 2 bumper, fog lights, engine and whatever, if you ain't got dual airbags then you ain't got a series 2. Same goes for the other two series. Basically i like the series 1.5 cause it doesn't have the damn heavy passenger airbag and the external ABS module at the center console. Damn module makes the pocket smaller.

I have a series 2 skyline and i changed the boot skyline to a clear one and my trunk lock is not the series 2 one as well so i have a series 2 front end and a series 1 rear end. Even the agent here says why the f**k do i have such a weird skyline. lol

dont know - we could guesstimate at best guess

the only rare r33 models i can think of are

- series 2 & 4 doors

- series 2 with active lsd

- series 2 with 40th anniversary

- series 1 & 2 GTS4

Yes, tons and tons and tons of right handed R33's Patty.

Lol, I think you are talking about the R33 Left Hand drives... and no, they were not made for the USA, they were put in the left hand drive cities in some other parts of the world. They never have released and never will release a "Skyline" in the USA. The closest we get is the G35, the V35 in Skyline Countries, the G37, the V35 370GT in other countries, and the new "GTR" which is technically a Skyline BUT no "Skyline" badges.

So no, the USA never got any and seemingly never will get any. But I have one in the USA so all is well.

It is a late series 1 and someone's fitted a series 2 bumper for what ever reason, crash, aesthetics etc.

Both series 1 & 2 have a coil pack for each spark plug, it's just that the early series 1 have an external igniter, where as late S1&2 have the igniter built into the ecu.

the igniter is actually built into the coil pack not the ecu.

A series 1 or even a remapped RB20 ecu will run a Series 2 motor no worries.

Off Topic but can someone put this in to nissan fast and show me the info.

VIN: ECR32 - 011618 M06126

Im looking at you Pual :(

Cheers

if you read the thread i posted a link to the fast thread a bit earlier.

Right, and I have already pretty much rounded the car down to BEING a 1.5 as well has everyone else. It is series 1.5 which is grand! The coil pack has igniters, no external amplifier.

    • Looking for a S2 front grill for an R34 GT/GTT Doesn’t have to be in excellent condition as I’m looking to paint it. Would preferred if the clips were around.    The $500 this marketplace guy is asking sounds ridiculous in my opinion.
    • Nah, just take the other one off too
    • A mini mini-gun.
    • Oh yeah forgot to also mention need to also unplug the IACV as well. Thanks for the reminder @MBS206 Unplugging the TPS takes it out of closed loop so you're able to screw down the IACV without the ECU trying to add/subtract timing to maintain the idle (not sure PowerFC can even do this, but Nistune and the OEM definitely does)
    • For sale is my 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T, tuned to 234 kW / 313 hp. I've had the car for a few years as my daily driver. The car is original (as far as Skylines go), with only a few minor upgrades to enhance performance and driving experience, as typical for such a car of its age. Overall, it is in great condition with no body rust, thanks to its earlier import date. It features a top-notch security system (not literally, but it's great!) with remote start and still functional 4-wheel steering via HICAS. It comes with several performance and handling upgrades, including:     Hypergear 450HP Turbocharger running 17 PSI boost, installed mid-2021 by Jaustech     550cc injectors     Nistune ECU     Front-Mount Return-Flow Intercooler     X-Force Stainless Steel Exhaust     Upgraded engine mounts     Bottom end bearings replaced     BC Coilovers     Lenso DR1 rims     Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE003 TL 245/40R18 97W tires, fitted early 2023 The interior is mostly stock, with a few additions:     Viper Satellite Tracking System with remote start     Bluetooth Double-Din Touchscreen Head Unit     Steering wheel cover Cons:     A few paint imperfections here and there     Driver’s seat shows more wear than the others. It's not torn at all, but I've added a seat cover to protect its condition. I also have a CarVX Vehicle History report available for serious buyers, so you don’t need to purchase it yourself. Price: $26,000 ONO.
