polishstorm, you are one lucky guy :uh-huh:

the magistrate must have been in a good mood :D

i can't believe you went that fast on the Parkway in the first place...that's scary stuff...with all those concrete walls in the middle...

the times I've done it have been out on a highway, where there's big wide roads and long straights you can see the end of.

Fastest was 230 in an S14 (very floaty, don't try it), but as for cut off - I hit 190klm on the straight at EC, and I originally thought I was hitting speed cut out, turned out to be the rev limit in fourth! Still not sure if/where the rev limit is (since 5th is no faster :D )

Keep in mind that speedos are up to 10% optimistic - so the 180 limit may still be there while the speedo reads 198!

Guest SVD001

to PJKJ..Yep I'm in ipy all right..:P Not a good thing but it'll do for now. Haven't been on any cruizes as yet. Only went to that Drift day out at Mt Cotton the other week. seeing as tho you live in Ipswich,, Have you seen that gorgeous silver R31 that's always parked outside of Kenard's Hire heading out of town??? It's got SKY89 or 89SKY plates on it. I'm keen to go in there one day and ask who owns it... I'd like to go on a mountain drive at some stage. Surely others would be up to it......

280 km/hr in a HJ Holden Ute! (Years ago)

Had 502ci Chev(8.2L), 5 spd Tremec, & 2.5:1 nine inch diff!

Got busted on freeway doing 160 at exactly 2000rpm in 5th -

so we worked out at 3500 it was doing roughly 280.

Crazy thing is it would of pulled to 4000 rpm in 5th, but I doubt

it would of stayed on the road at over 300 kays!!!

10.1 @ 133 mph in a HX Holden Ute! (also years ago)

Had 350 chev, powerglide,5.11 diff, & 32x14 slicks.Ran methanol.

Dinosaurs all gone now.(well almost-have commodore ute)

R34 GTR - 12.5 @ 114mph. Std exept for Power FC & Nismo Exhaust. Need to get 320 Km speedo 'cause it maxs out the std 180 km speedo well before 7000 rpm in 4th & I've had it doing

over that in 5th. Haven't really stretched it's legs in 6th yet!

*have now - does 285km & 12.1 @ 115mph*

R33 GTR - 10.7 @ 135mph (So far) at Drag Combat.

Looking forward to breaking past the 140 mph barrier.

It was doing around 8000 rpm in 4th over the line when it did

135mph (216 km/hr) so imagine 9000 rpm in 5th & 6th?

Has trust 6 speed. Will have to finalise last will & testament before attempting this! ( In Northern Territory of course)

*now 9.66 @ 148mph with Holinger 6 speed*

*now 9.50 @ 153mph but didnt back off till 265km according to datalogging - pity the track isn't longer.*

About 250, not absolutely sure it is hell scary at that speed. My mate in the back seat says it was 245-250. Ran out of gearing to go faster, engined pulled fairly happily all the out to this speed. This was driving between hometown and industrial town with excelent highways. That time was enough for me, won't do that again soon.

This is usually 4 hour drive. We cruised nearly all the way at about 180, anything above that my external wastgate was activated and was noisy and gave me the ****s. At one satge we had to stop (potty break), tried to catch up to cars that are allready going 150, not easy. Took nearly 15 minotes of 200 plus driving.

This road is well known for no cops, everyone speeds along it.

    • So the clockspring is responsible for the indicators cancelling on their own? I thought that was the function of that green thing in the center (any idea what it's called?)
    • Can you log IAT? Whilst WTA coolers have their place, doing any sort of sustained run is not one of them There are fixes that slow down the heat soak, like ice boxes, which don't last that long, and interchillers, which are fairly expensive, up grades to the WTA cooling radiator, which may require a bigger pump, and upgrades to the reservoir size,  and upgrades to the cooling fans, but, it all still heat soaks, and takes ages to come down in hot weather  For a turbo, that isn't locked into WTA like my PD blower is, can you not possibly swap to a nice air to air intercooler????, it would be better for sustained runs then, and have alot less things that could go wrong in my opinion
    • So, the other thing I've sorted is a baseline dyno run up at Unigroup's new location. The auto trans was a little unco-operative by both shifting down when the throttle was floored on the dyno (so Mark had to ramp it up more slowly than in a manual) and also by shifting up at 6,000 even in sports mode instead of the indicated redline of 7,000 Still, on a hot day it made 240rwkw at 16psi which seems about right for 300kw (400hp) through an auto at the wheels.  The shape of the curve is not quite right because it was not full throttle to about 4,500 to stop it kicking down, but until I can get a tune on the auto trans control this was the best we could do.....full boost will be well below 5,000 once that is sorted, I'll get some data logs when I can to confirm For comparison, the R32 made 255 at 12psi (at 4,500) on the same dyno with tune, n1 turbos, cam gears, big exhaust but otherwise all standard so the v37 is likely a little better out of the box. One thing that is very clear is that the standard water to air intercoolers are not up to sustained use at full throttle in warm ambient temps. After about 5 runs (so only a few minutes full throttle), it was pulling boost and timing and dropping 10-15% power. Unfortunately I didn't get that printout and the Unigroup guys are away at the moment, will try and get hold of it on their return. So, looks like a healthy engine to start modifying and the only real area of concern is the w2a heat exchangers which the aftermarket has plenty of solutions for
    • I maintain it actually looked really nice in person. So much so that I thought "No, this is illegal" but there it was, clear as day. I think we can easily call the wing and wheels/height to be transformative. Not saying it's better than the GR Whatever, or the 86, or the WRX STI or anything of that sort (the internet says it all bolts up so you can buy best of all worlds?) but it's still at least a thing and not nearly AS bad as people say.
    • That's less offensive than the previous gen.....except for all that ugly black tupperware around the edges. Blerck!
